since eq 2 is free now

i wanted to share with you an EXPERT GAMERS thoughts on

this game

incase

you want to try it

heres what i am now remembering when i went back to play eq 2 for free

1 -graphix r good but i doubt u can enjoy eq 2 with a crappy computer

you need lots of memory and nice grafix card

2- combat seems choppy and not fluid
when i fight stuff a lot of times i wont see myself swing my sword or there will be a strange pause
during a pve fight where i will stop attacking at first i thought i was getting stunned or lagging but
its just plain awful

3-no one talks
its weird no one talks and rare to see anyone say anything in wow the general chat is spammed
but eq2 theres a lot of people in the zone but rarely does anyone say anything

4-lots of zoning
you can travel around pretty easy but you have to load the new areas and this happens a ton when you have to run around doing quests it gets old

5-high leval pvp mount vs mount
i have seen some videos and its funny everyone rides on their mounts

6-no one groups as newbs
at low levels everyone seems to solo i have seen a bunch of duos but they seem to be husband and wife type or same person using 2 accounts etc i never seen a big noob pick up group

7-at low levels class seems imbalanced
at high level people group a lot more im told so when you are in a big team you wont feel gimpybut as a newb if you take a certain class you might not know where all the quests are and have to solo and if you are a certain class you wont fight as good alone

I waiting for pvp this week now
i dont really care about pve
so i have just been trying to relearn the game and from last time i played only for 2 days
so im trying different classes and things again to see what im going to be

i do like the way duels are in eq2
you can duel for silvers and gold to the winner

pvp is going to be really funny if everyone fights on mounts hahaha

Ya i also think Mount PVP looks crappy, the animations are horrible on them and its funny how your constantly run in circles as your locked onto them lol.

I also agree with noone talks, i think the EQ2 community is very poor and i hated it.

Also about the lowbie thing too.

    -------------

It never used to be like that though! When the game was in beta everyone grouped, everyoned talked and it was sooo lovely. Theres was 6 zones to ever palce and Antonica lagged like a bitch.

Closed beta for EQ2 was my only fun time with the game, the community made it sooo great to play! The gaems all about grouping, with the current state of it you can't ever find a group unless at a high level and in a guild!

I've also noticed people ar every moody and only talk withing their guilds!

It's a game let down by the low pops and communtiy.

Umm ok. I don't know what server you are on, but on Unrest server it is so spammed with chat I have to on occasion leave the channels. The low lvl chat always has chatter, always.

And I'm gonna say this again from another EQ2 flame post. If you cannot get into a group, no matter what lvl in this game, then you desperatly need to work on your people skills.

"Imbalanced" and "unbalanced" are both words, according to m-w.com.

Oh, how I love m-w.com. :) It's the best game on the net.

I decided to give it a shot since i played EQ from 1999-2003.To my suprise its acctualy pretty fun to play once you get off that dam newb island. Its also nice to have a community even with the deluge of fileplanet sign ups that arent 70% leet speaking mememe retards.Maybe ill stick with it till huxley or something else comes out.If your burned out on all the released and some beta mmos like me its worth a try.

Expert gamer? No... expert troll perhaps.

  • xacebopxacebop Member UncommonPosts: 93

yep, once ur off the trial isle or whatever the newb island, the game becomes way more fun at level 5 or 10 i forgot whenever u get ur last class change. everything becomes unique.

also i have a question, if you try the game and like it do u have to buy the game or just choose to pay the monthly??

Expert gamer? Doubtful... On the server I play on Newbs group all the time and the combat is pretty fluid (there IS the occasional pause.) Id say its a pretty good game, though the low-level graphics ARE rather horribly handled...

I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.

I heared a lot of BUL about EQ2

Now thanks to free 30 day offer , i tried it.

True - you need a monster computer to enjoy EQ2

    Not true - everything else

    Compared to WOW :

Quests are much better , animations and spell effects are fantastic (again you need good machine to enjoy it) , community is on the par , much more classes , combat is on the par

    In one word

WOW your McDonalds fast food MMORPG enjoyment
    EQ2 resembles old MMORPG's

Really? I gave the EQ2 30 day trial a go as well and found the quest to be exactly the same as WoW, just some more lag added ;)
  • kovahkovah Member UncommonPosts: 692

Yeah, my first impression when I logged into EQ2(free trial as well) was: Wow, its just like WoW... Same type of gameplay, same type of quests...

I'm not flaming the game at all but I just spent a year of my life in WoW and now I'm looking for something different. EQ2 seems to be entirely too similar from my (very) short experience with it thus far. Plenty of time left in my 30 day trial though so who knows, maybe i'll change my mind.

To respond to some of the OPs points:

Graphics - I've got a really good computer and a so so computer, both run the game just fine. The good computer on High settings, the so so is on Low settings. Even my 6800 Ultra, P4 3.2, 1gb Corsair chokes all to hell on the highest settings.

Combat - I found nothing new or exciting about the combat based on my experience in WoW. Choppy at times, but that's online gaming for ya...

No one talks - On the noob island on the 3 servers that I created characters for, you are correct. Very little chatter which, I must admit, is a nice break from the Barrens.

Zoning - h8 it. One of the main reasons I won't touch DDO. It doesn't seem that prevelant here though so it hasn't really bothered me.

No noob grouping - Agreed 100%. Again, I created chars on 3 different servers.

Low class imbalance - can't really comment on this except that it sounds like par for the course in an MMORPG.

At any rate, I think EQ2 is a good game I just don't know that it's what I'm looking for atm.
