Great game. A little unbalanced.  I've played off and on for a while.  I just played a level 20 game where a guy had 4 uniques that he played.  That's entry level.  Just saying.

edit:  point is, it's not well balanced.

I tried playing with a basic deck.  I kept getting matched against players with all these custom cards.  They destroyed me.

With millions and millions of players, and the new season just getting underway, you're bound to run into all types if you play the ladder.  Even level 20's may run legendary cards.  They may not be that great or have synergy with their deck, but having legendaries doesn't mean anything, really.

They mean something after about six rounds.  I play a priest deck that can pretty much win early.  However, if it goes farther the only ray of light is if I can take over a legendary.  I'm just saying that a free player won't get far.   Without playing a ton.

Incidentally, I'm also fine with that.  Companies exist to make money.

edit:  i also have decks for every class.  just thte the priest is the most fun

So your saying being able to play DrGG on turn 7 doesn't really mean anything? They are restricted in that you can only play one but Legendaries and Epics often play a major role in the game.

Example Warrior for years built on Grommash,no Grom don't play War.

Alexstraza a staple in a few decks for a very long time.

Then we have the epic Giants, there is no Handlock without Giants.

Strongest deck in game right now? Some say Patron War,your not getting Patron as a noob and your not winning gold in Arena so ,just saying.

Now of course ANY game is not meant to be straight up fair to noobs,my issues with the game are far beyond balance.I feel the entire design is just weak, not really bad but not good either.I knwo they aimed for casual because casual makes money, but making money does not mean it is a solid pvp game ,just one that gets tons of casual gamer's to invest into it.

The main drawback of the design is that players get to play completely untouched ,every turn, imo plays should be challenged, that is how serious pvp should be.I mean seriously  you wouldn't see a fps where one player has to just stand there and they take turns shooting each other, nor would you see a MOBA work where each player takes a turn while the other guy sits idle.Of course not ,plays need to be challenged, hence why MTG is a much better design.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I have very little respect for people who just put legendaries in their decks just. . .because.  In my experience, if you have no synergy with the card in the rest of your deck, then the other player will often have a quick answer.  Dr. Boom on turn 7?  Who *doesn't* see that coming?  Sure, they play a major role in the game - my Priest Mind Control deck wouldn't work without all of its epics.  My point is that if you're playing the ladder, especially at the beginning of a season, you're going to run into some of these decks.  Legendaries because legendaries is stupid and should be avoided.  But, with anything, ymmv.

Unless people learn to build decks that work for them and try to stop netdecking.  Generally, I can call player's next cards when I've seen the first couple of turns.  I love playing against Control Warriors now.

Why are you not getting Patron as a noob?  The wing of BRM is not difficult.  If you want it without spending any money, then sure, you'll have to grind the gold.  But if you're going to roll in with very little cards and say, "I want to play with the people who have all the expansions and a lot of epics and legendaries, and I want to win!"  I think you're being a little naive.

Nobody is forcing you to play.  If you don't like it, don't play.  Feel it is unbalanced, fine.  Don't play.  I have lost more games than I can remember.  Most of the time it is to terrible RNG shuffling/draws.  But that's the breaks.  I don't complain that the game is unbalanced because someone dropped a Dr. Boom on turn 7.  I should not have used a Big Game Hunter, Polymorph, or any of the other responses to that card before turn 7.  The same way I hope my opponent doesn't feel it is imbalanced when I Shadow Word: Death it for half the cost.  Or when I Shadow Madness his patron to kill his other patron.  It's a card game.  You win some you lose some.  But asking a "level 1" to be as prepared as a "level 50" may be reaching, don't you think?

    Responses above.

I just wish the match maker would match me up against other people who dont spend money. and match people who spend money up against each other.

im tired of getting steam rolled by crazy decks/cards when i just started playing 2 days ago.

Hearthstone is the same = have awesome cards, faceroll opponents with inferior decks

very true. i wish MTG made a good online game for my tablet/phone i would much rather play it.

Yes, you can craft them from dust.  400 dust = 1 epic card of your choice.

Well, there's always facehunter.  Super cheap top-tier deck.  Not the most fun to play and people will hate you for it, but you can surely compete with any deck with it.

Anyway, it goes to show that it's not really about legendary or epics considering facehunter runs with neither.  It's about deck synergy.

Even though it may seem like a legendary is beating you, in reality if your deck was synergized, you could beat it.  Of course it's not easy to have a synergized deck when you start off with few cards to choose from.

That's where facehunter comes in.  I'd recommend making that asap if you're new and don't want to lay down some cash to make other kinds of decks.
