Kunou, Julian, or another expert: I need some advice quickly

I am not happy with the Berserker class (especially in rvr), nor am I happy with my guild.  I want to start all over with a class that is more RVR friendly, and I want to start on a server with some good guilds that are newbie-friendly.  Your advice please.

Lamorak is very good for its community. Guilds will invite anyone into their guild, there just happy to have you. I could get you in VISION. if you roll Hib in lamorak.

RvR friendly classes in Hib are: Bard, Druid, Animist, Bainshee, eldritch,

    Basically casters and healers lol.

Guild Wars - Rorick Aurlith E/Mo pumped up with the best armor and weapon, has all his skills, and runes. PvP King!

Dark Age of Camelot - Leaton 50 Vampiir - Lamorak - Guild: Magic and Mayhem!

Do all servers lag the same?  RVR at Tig on Bors was pretty bad.

    Correct.

There are so many kinds of classes in this game!!!  I am thinking about being a ranger, but I dont want to play anything that is over-played.

Also the RVR and capitol cities seem to lag.  I dont think its my computer.  I hate watching another player jump around like there is a 1 second delay.  Maybe its their computer more than mine.

Rangers are fun but not really group friendly from what I have seen. But maybe they have changed recetly. I know with the pull dynamic modifier they were supposed to become better at not getting aggro when pulling.... but I dunno.

Does your guild have a website yet? Find out how easy it is to get one.

I think the first thing you need to decide is what role do you want to play? While tanks play a role in RvR, they certainly are not usually a "fun" class to play for me. I like killing enemies. Therefore I tend to play casters mostly. Here is a simplified run down of the general roles:

Tanks - meat shields, have protect for casters, run siege weapons, beat on enemies that get close.
Casters - main damage dealers, provide crowd control
Healers - keep everyone alive or brings them back from death, provides buffs
Archers - offers recon, snipes targets solo such as casters/assassins, can coordinate attacks with /assist to take down just about anyone
Assassins - kill other assassins, take out solo casters.

Assassins are really fun for the BG, but because of MoS most people do not find them fun at level 50. Even with the new changes I went out and tried things are not that much better. Every time that I died that had nothing to do with my own messup, it was because of some archer seeing me at a far distance and shooting me with a bow. Sure I can kill casters now, but it is hard to get to casters when there are so many archers out there. Until that is addressed I really would not suggest playing an assassin. You will be better off playing an archer.

So, if you are like me you will want to do a lot of killing. This will mean either a caster or archer.

As for a realm/server that is hard. I have not played on every server. I have not played the other realms substantially either. Something has always put me off in the other realms. In my experience, and this is one of the reasons why I do not play the other realms, I find that in general Hibernia is the friendliest realm.

Gareth - an ok server. I found the starter guild better than my experienced with Mid/Alb. If you want Classic then go here.

Igraine - the server I play on. It used to be the nicest server. Only 2 people I ever met that I wanted to hurt. Not as friendly as it used to be, but I still find it an awsome server. People are almost always willing to help. You will get guild invites, money, items, etc. One people know you are a new player. It is a small server so it will appear empty

Morgan Le Fey - By far the nicest server I have ever run across. Unlike 2 other servers on the cluster that I will not mention where 99% of the players I met I could not stand, MLF players are the nicest people ever. For example I am in Darkness Falls playing my animist. A person who is in another zone farming scrolls, parked his bot in DF. He then buffs me. He follows me to my camp spot and puts down a powerfont for me. They always seem willing to group. I have never seen one of them be rude or jerks.

Bors - if I recall I have heard nice things about for a RL friend. I think this was the server.

In any case, that should be taken with a grain of salt. Each person's experiences will be different.

So knowing what I like, I would play MLF as either a Ranger, Bainshee, Mentalist, Eldritch, or Enchanter. Rangers will be fun, but you will end up in solo or stealth groups. The rest are damage dealers and will be wanted by most groups. I would say an Eld is better than an Enchanter, but Enchanter has a pet which is nice. You can send him after the archer that shoots at you. Mentalist gets power regen that people will want, a HoT, and DoT. Bainshee do a lot of damage and because of an LoS issue still to be fixed you can often cast through walls.

But again that is just me. I would decide what role you want in RvR and just go from there. If you stay in Mid, I am sure Warlocks are still heavily wanted for their damage potential. I at least seem many of them out as well as Bonedancers.

Can't speak to your guild issues.   Guilds vary like the wind it's up to you to find one that fits you best.  The best advice I can give is do a lot of research on guilds before joining one.  Visit their websites.  For me if a guild doesn't have their own website they're automatically off my list for consideration.  Once I visit their website I read the message boards.  How active are the boards?  How helpful are the officers?  How organized does the guild appear to be?

Only after doing all that will I approach an officer in game or post on their boards wanting to join.  I can usually narrow it down to a few options very quickly doing this.  Then it's just a matter of joining them to see what they're like.  Go in order of interest and never 2nd guess your decision.  If you decide you like a guild, stick with it.

As to class?  What is it you want to do?  A berzerker is a pure melee class.  Sounds like you just don't like being pure melee.  Without knowing what role you want to fill in a group I really can't help you there.

As to server?  Most of the 'normal' servers are pretty empty on the PVE side of things because the clusters, while great for PVP, tend to spread people out *a lot* for PVE.  If you enjoy the normal servers and just want a 'new' one I'd recommend Merlin.  It's the largest of them.

If you don't care about TOA content then I'd recommend Gareth or Lamorak.

I hope you like the server. If not there are plenty more to pick from. As I warned it is somewhat an empty looking server when you are not in the clustered zones. Don't be afraid to do a /who to find people around your level to group with and message them asking for groups. I would suggest doing quests in Catacombs to level as a ranger. They do decent in PvE but are not the best.

As for Guilds? Well I stopped paying attention to guids a long time ago. Most of the guilds I used to know are now dead. How a person fits with a given guild will depend on personalities. In any case I will provide you with some links:

This is the alliance my guild is in:

    http://guilds.camelotherald.com/guilds/guild.php?s=Igraine&g=1821

I can't say much positive or negative about any of the guilds because I do not know a lot of them. Only those in my guild for the most part.

Blades is a large guild, Retribution is also another large guild, Honor Guard is the largest guild. The rest of the guilds I believe are small, 40 or less players. For the record I am not in any of those guilds.

Here is the webpage for the alliance:

    http://www.tddweb.com/index.cfm

You can't see much unless you register. You have to be a member of one of the alliance guilds. It helps prevent spying.

A lot of small guilds do not have webpages. Celts Gone Wild have been nice enough to set up a webpage and allows other guilds to use their forums as well

    http://www.celtsgonewild.com/

I would offer to help you, but I do not play that much to be of assistence. I get on 2-3 times a week for a total of maybe 10 hours. I will take your name down and try to add you to my /friends list. I will try to get on tonight and at least when I remember do a search for your name so I can twink you or toss a guild invite if you want to hang out with my tiny guild. The guild I am in tends not to offer "help." By that I mean if you say I need X they will all be willing to help. So you can say I need help leveling and people will often offer to help. The guild won't just offer you money, gold, items, etc. So you need to ask for it.

Anyway if I see you I can get you some decent armor/weapons and coin for horse rides perhaps.
