Help Please, I’m Weak…Thinking of going back!

EbeOneEbeOne Member Posts: 124

Shortly after the introduction of NGE I closed my accounts and have been looking for another game since. The best I have found is AO, but it’s still not SWG.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I played SWG for 2.5 years, most of that time with three accounts so that I could have three toons on the same server at the same time. I left the main one with most of the stuff guild halls, city halls, vehicles of all sorts, houses, tons of vet rewards and collectables, and such. And of course several million credits.

Probably one of the main things that’s drawing me back is that I know my way around the galaxy. I played for a minimum of four hours a day on weekdays, and much more on weekends .

I don’t want to start a flamer here but would like to hear from some people that are still playing, and some who have recently stopped.

I think I have a handle on the stuff that made a lot of us stop when the NGE first came out so I guess what I’m hopping for is someone will tell me how great it is now.

I'm not gonna tell you how great it is or it isn't.  I would say that you should just try for yourself.  Download the trial and create and account.  Then ask yourself this: "Is it different?  Is it better?  Look at what they are promising right now and think: "HAven't they promised this before?

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

The NGE is fun... for about 5 minutes. Then it's interesting (while you try out fixed/new features)... for about 5 hours. Then it just blows. IMO, Pub 27 did nothing to help the game play/mechanics, only bug them up more.

Look, if you're missing that bad, I'd hold out for Vangaurd. But if you can't, or you're just curious, go ahead and try a month. Heck, I hate the NGE, but it's your buck, do what you want with it.

You might leave in a month (Lord knows I would), but who knows, you may like it. But there are some GREAT games coming out (Vangaurd), and some good ones in the meantime (DDO). I miss it about once a week, log on, then log off in disgust. Just understand: This is NOT the SWG you loved... it's an evil-robot copy... it jerks around a bit more, doesn't fit together well, and can't hold your attention like the original.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

paying to play supports the actions they took.

SOE is just as likely to do something else horridly drastic just as you get comfortable.  Rumor is Torres got canned, meaning LA is likely to force soe to code another horrid revamp.

Stability breeds confidence.  SWG has never experienced stability.  The closest to stable it ever got was ripped away just when most subscribers had the experience understood and working.

Ask yourself a question.  Do you trust them?

You might lose all your work.  They might shutdown your server.  Who knows.  They do things behind the subs backs.

I see you played on Shadowfire, same here, played on SF from when it went live until the NGE was on test. Im trying to think if ive ever spoken to you ingame. My names ingame were Spathotan for about a year, then I made another character named Hekate which lasted the rest of my playing time.

I have canceled my four accounts and still have one of them that is active until the end of March. I logged in to check publish 27, they still have a long ways to put this game back on it's feet.

I know how you feel, I miss the game the way it use to be and want it back. But I have come to terms with the fact that it is no more.

I'm doing my best to learn EVE for the time being while I wait to see what Pirates of the Burning Sea and Vangaurd will be like.

It's your choice if you want to try SWG out again but if you are anything like me you will be saddened by what you see.

I really feel bad for those that paid in advance and got shafted.....remember the shaftees....they deserve to have some oily sav put on their poor wounded and molested backsides!

The only advice i can give you... is to allways have your strongest armor equipped at all times you never know when SOE will try and stab you in the back - better safe than sorry image

You wouldn't be the first, since pub 27 was released I'm noticing more people in game :)  Whether they're here because Pub 27 brought stuff that they were wanting or because they just wanna see how pub 27 has changed things I can't say.  It could even be that SOE/LA have finnally posted a draft plan for the future of the game :)

I'm not going to list things I find fun to do because it might not be what you enjoy doing, it's something you need to decide yourself :)  I would suggest doing the trial, but it's not going to be a good representation of what you will be doing if you re-sub.  Alot of the changes that have been made in recent publishes and hotfixes have been more for the high end rather then the lowend so either seeing if you can borrow a friends account or resubbing account might be the better option.

Do your fellow gamer a favor and don't be a sucker for the Star Wars logo on SWG. What you're saying is like having sex with your ex-girlfriend who has herpies just because you were with her for 2.5 years. I guess that applies to all the people who play SWG, they're satisfied with the fat ugly chic just because they're used to it so they settle for all the crap she gives them.

I went through the same thing you went through. I just had to go back and check it out.

Knowing your way through the galaxy is one thing. Loading up and realizing that your guild is gone, your friend list is empty, gameplay is cheesy as hell since there is zero brain in it now.

Give it a try. I did. I played for about a week giving it an honest try but frankly the game isnt even beta imo. More like a late alpha. They have so much stuff to fix its ridiculous.

If you liked crafting or entertaining then I'd say you should save your energy. I don't think they've done anything to address either of these aspects of the game.

If you enjoyed the JTL content, this is still in tact as far as I can tell.

I say that questing for xp is more fun for levelling a character than killing 44,000 bols, but that's just one person's opinion.

One thing has clearly changed. The players who remain are willing to help one another much more so now than 2 months ago. Their anger has apparently worn off and they appreciate fellow explorers. New alliances have been formed. Powerful old guilds are adding new members. PvP wars continue.

You shouldn't have much difficulty finding cohorts on Mustafar.

FInally, go run the Ryatt Trail on Kashyyk solo and tell me how easy this newer content is.

I feel the same way u do man.  I was almost in a panic because I still have hope that maybe with all these rumored changes and all going on at Lucas Arts that something good will happen with SWG then I will go back.  I was in a panic because I had read somewhere where structure maintenance was back on but then I found out it was a bug and I calmed down.  I don't want to play again until they make the game playable again but I am tempted to go back and play.  I don't care what system it is I just want a playable game and something that is challenging which is why I liked the old system because hunting and PvE as well as PvP was challenging and that is what I like about a game.  A game that is too easy gets boring fast.

I just hope we are both able to go through this withdrawl period without and relapses.
