I should have stuck with my gut instincts when i purchased Skyrim and Dragon Age.I thought both were bit time over rated as i got bored with both within a week.I actually was forcing myself to play past day 1-2 to justify my purchases. That is all it takes ,i usually do something stupid like purchase a single player game to realize how cheaply made they are and how boring they are.I move with the times,i don't like going back to old school single player game designs, same reason i don't like playing solo within a mmo.
Truth be told ,i won't be making the same mistake of buying W3,i saw all i needed to see on Twitch.I also did the same thing for the new FF game,i watched Twitch, saw how weak it was and never bought it.That is the cool thing about Twitch,no longer do i watch developer made advertising videos,i can see for myself actual game play.

Not splitting hairs here, but in Witcher 3 you use crossbow, bow and arrow is kinda adverse the quick pace combat to the game. Also, both games you can play a female.
You cannot create a female main character.
While Ciri is playable, she is not able top be used to complete the game in standard play. There are only certain quests/situations in which you can play her.
it's too bad it's not Skyrim. I think I'd thoroughly enjoy a wide open world set in the Witcher world. Maybe they're cooking up an MMO for us...
Whole bunch of unrequited love of games going on. I like the witcher series, very different, experience of a game. Very enjoyable without a single mod.
I feel sad for some people not even giving the game a chance, and in time they might see the light, but if you love RPG not playing this game is like not playing any of the great classics out there from the days long past.
Played almost all rpg and mmorpg games released since muds and rouguelikes in dos, and i tell you. Play it and you will love it. One thing tho. You must play it at at least hard difficulty, as thats how the game was designed to be played, and if you feel strong enough try max difficulty.
The game combat system and progression is designed in a way that the harder it is the more you have to actually work on becoming a real witcher by learning each monster mechanics, weaknesses and prepare for them by creating special potions, oils weapons and other items.
As groundbreaking Skyrim was (in a way, Falout 3 was first there) game had a lot of flaw, and very little story at all. It was more about open world and exploration only than actually trying to tell deep interesting story.
In Witcher 3 there is not a single quest that is boring or forgettable. All of them are deep, interesting and you dont feel like you are grinding or playing for better items.
One thing im missing is a compass but it wil be available through moding in time so for now i play with no UI at all, using sun as pointer and remembering the lay of the land. Game is extremely immersible if you let it
I dont think one game can be better than another. I think there are games we LIKE to play more than other games.
I have a high end gaming laptop and have both the Witcher 3 and Skyrim Legendary Edition. For all the Skyrim lovers Witcher 3 is an impressive game. CDPR did a quality job creating characters that matter which is what I believe makes the world real. They weave this relationship between the characters into the quests making it very immersive. With that said *I* am not enjoying it (not because it is a bad or worse game) but because of the type of gamer that I am.
Coming from a Dungeon and Dragons background I just simply enjoy creating my own character and forging my own adventure which is what Skyrim is more geared too.
Funny enough growing up I used to love playing-the-story-type of RPGs (with Final Fantasy, Bioshock, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect) but seems as I've gotten older I am now preferring the sandbox (give me a world) and let me do what I want in it. I find it interesting.
That to me is all that needs to be said about it lol. I really wonder if people can just play games and enjoy them or not and move on without having some kind of debate about them or finding something to argue about. However we are talking about people and people on mmorpg.com at that lol.
I really could've done without hearing and reading half of that barf-worthy teenage boy fantasy inspired dialogue that was in Witcher 3, to be frank. Ugh, and UGH, Triss's voice acting. UGH!
Other than that though it was a really stellar game with more lore and interesting places and creatures than you could shake a stick at. A minor step up from Skyrim but I'm still a fan of forging my own adventures and developing my own character.

Originally posted by adamlin747This game has much more in common with dragon age inquisition than Skyrim. In my opinion though this game is leaps and bounds ahead of DAI the story is better the side quests are better, the combat is better. DAI was another let down for me because 60% of the game was boring fluff. Bioware is a story teller they should stick to it and leave open world games to Bethesda who can't tell as good of a direct story but can make open world games like no ones business.
Same for me! Dragon Age: Inquisition was a huge let Down!
The beginning of the game was awesome, with a good pace of the main story.
But the moment you Reach Skyhold, it goes rapidly downhill and you are forced to spend a considerable amount of time grinding side quests to rake in enough Points to unlock and continue forward with the main storyline. There are some interesting side quests, but most are just boring MMO type quests. /shrug
Very badly designed. Just artificial Barriers to make the game look larger/longer than it really is. I have restarted the game several times now (trying different builds along the way) and had a blast starting over from the beginning, but every time I reach Skyhold I just get bored to tears shortly after, because of the forced grind!

If only Skyrim combat was any good. It's just a boring potion drinking fest and swinging your weapon or the same only with adding mana pots into the mix. An no mods can make Skyrim combat even half as decent as Witcher 3 already has.
I've had my eye on Witcher 3 but never pulled the trigger....THe videos I have see nthe combat always looks kinda funky.....I get tired just watching him fight one battle.

The mini map in the upper right corner of the screen is a compass, look closely and you'll notice the N representing North.
