Forum user Eldryth brought this to our attention. Yoshi-P recently addressed the concerns many players (new and old) have with the story and its accessibility when the expansion Heavensward launches later this month. Read on for the details.
As Eldryth points out here from a video published late last week:
First off, equipment rewards will be added to the Main Scenario quests. He didn't go into too much detail here, but presumably this will help you reach the item level requirements for duties, if not bring you all the way there by itself.
Second, so that you can do the required content without getting stuck in queues for an eternity (especially for dps classes), players new to a given duty will be placed in a priority queue. Basically, you can go straight to the front of the line so you can progress your quests quickly.
Additionally, pre-50 main scenario quests will give double experience so you don't have to do side content, and if you own Heavensward you'll get experience from the 2.1-2.55 quests as well, so you can get a few levels before even entering Ishgard.
And if you have friends or a helpful FC, they're adding the ability to join with a partial group, bypass the duty finder, and not get level synced. (This part is actually from other articles) With this, if you really want to skip ahead even with the inprovements, you can just have a level 60 player rush you through the old content quickly. There are plenty of great FC's out there that would help with this.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

This is excellent news. I have a few combat focused friends who already said they would carry my partner and I through all the content once they hit 60.
I can go back to being a botanist now and she can go back to being a culinarian.
I don't mind waiting a week after the xpac comes out to get started.
Just by doing the normal story now, you hit 50 WAY before you finish the quests. It would be pointless to give boosted experience to people who are already done with the story as well as already capped waiting for 60.
People who are doing their 2nd or 3rd class do not follow the story - as it was already completed on a previous class.
This will be better when HS drops, because people might go back for some super fast XP and push through.
PS - All mammals have nipples.
Get over it already.
I think it's because they want people to buy the bundle package, so if they started it now less people would purchase the bundle package.
Yep my biggest complaint about the game... forced dungeons to progress story-line.
Not being level synced for old content was announced a while back. So you could have been carried the whole time. I figured you had already known. Pretty sure I saw it on Reddit.

I sure hope we are able to turn off this double XP feature. I don't know about the rest of you but this "forced" Double/Fast XP madness is ruining the games for me in most of these MMORPGs. TERA is currently going through an event that grants Double XP for the entire month of May and many newer players are complaining that without being able to turn off the feature they are out-leveling content at break-neck speed thereby ruining their enjoyment of the game. This double/fast XP thing, it's great to have for those who want to level quickly and rush to end game content but not all of us are hamsters wishing to out-level content just to rush to end game and jump on the "hamster wheel." Is it really too much to ask to implement the feature with an opt-out option? This double/triple/fast XP rushing to end game game craze is really out of control. Mind letting those of us who actually want to take our time and have no need to rush to end game be able to actually do so? So disappointed with the MMORPG genre now days. Its complete trash.
They are "dumbing" it down to dunce-level quickness so that you can get there faster and that still isn't good enough for some. They just want to buy the game and warp straight to end game and become an "instant hero." I guess its a lot cheaper than going to EBay and buying yourself an endgame "hero" account? All I can do is shake my head.
I think he wants to play one of the new classes at launch and not be required to do the main story to do so. Not warp to "instant hero".
Try reading what i said before making stupid replies based on sentiment. Nobody wants to warp to endgame and this is about letting new players try the new classes. Seems like they want to gate them behind story, bad business decision in my opinion.
+1
I'd have to agree with this too!
I would play FF ARR if it wasn't for the silly grouping requirement.
The stupid reply based on sentiment is yours. Wishing to immediately play classes that are supposed to be earned via progressing through a story IS wanting to warp to end game. They don't let you play end game classes for a reason. And that reason is because they want you to play and beat the already released content ( you know the game that took them years and money, to design and develop) before you can progress beyond that starting content (of which those starting classes just happen to be a part of) before being able to play the advanced content (advanced classes) at end game. That is the entire point of the game, and business model. In other words, getting you to start the game and play through the content is how they pay their bills. Really not that hard to understand when you see it from a business point of view. This may be a game for you but its their livelihood. Its how they make their living. You want to play end game classes? Play the game, beat the content, and earn your right to play those classes. That's the hook that keeps you paying. You can either do that or you can just continue to stomp your feet and come on forum boards whining and complaining about what they won't let you do until your face turns blue, but it won't change a thing. Them are the rules of the game. In that regard you have two choices. 1)Take it or, 2) leave it. I'm guessing you're opting for the latter. Good for you.
You don't understand.....I don't want to have to grind out stupid kill and fetch quests or fates to level up, I rather just play the main story. I never got to 50 because I get bored between the story quests.
Gladly not going to play thanks for the concern though. Just stating that I think it s stupid to have such requirement for the story. The people are just the icing on the cake. I like to group believe it or not, but FFXIV was easily the worst grouping I ve had in any MMO.
Then don't play both of you & anyone of your ilk... You wont be missed. kkthxbye!!!11! edit: What else is there to say to that really? Honest question. There's nothing to gain by arguing with people like that. Thats the bottom line.

I tend to agree. I know the folks with more combat experience say that the dungeons and raids get better at end game. But holy crap the ones Ive done up to 50 have all been a chore. Combat is just way too slow for my tastes. Ive had a few fun groups of people but most are in the same boat as me: they dont want to be there, and just want to get it over with so they can be allowed to go back to doing something they enjoy.
I was actually thinking of starting up now (hopefully I am not to late!). I was looking for some sort of bundle package but could not find one on their store. They only had a separate base game, and heavensward purchase option. Is this bundle package available somewhere else?
Edit: never mind found it
