The Steam Community Hub (essentially serving as ARK's main forums) has been updated with a new patch this morning. Along with several fixes to server filtering and types, Studio Wildcard is opening 9 new PVE servers for folks who don't want the Kill-on-Sight sort of survival game the genre's known for.
As of 4am ET (don't ask me why I'm up), the official servers seem to be down still, but when they come back up PVE-loving players like myself might just have a new home. Stay-tuned to the site later today for our first impressions of the rather-fun sandbox MMO.

Damn you Bill!! Why did you have to tell me this lol :P
Reading about the PvE servers has made me purchase the game!
Looking forward to getting home and trying it
Sold.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Ugh early access.
Why couldn't they just involve me with Alpha testing ;'(

I find ARK more interesting for sure. I like Rust more than H1Z1 though and ARK is more similar to Rust, although more to do.
This is something that always happens, if players get a choice between PVE and PVP, then PVE is the first choice, and have to say, this game looks great for Co-op gameplay, challenging and kind of fun
Yep! Just mousewheel out. It's stuck over the shoulder like Mass Effect or Defiance though.

Cool, I was reading it s only while mounted. This is good news. Will buy for sure now.
Well, you can view 3d person. Also by presing K but I think he/she also wanna hit gather etc etc And that cant be done in 3d person. Only fps ^^
I'll second that. Definitely go for it, especially since we now know you can enjoy the 3rd person even when you're not mounted. If your wife is still getting sick from the view then, well.. dunno what to tell you.

Have you tried adjusting the FoV sliders? I know a few people that suffer from motion sickness in fps games but if they adjust the FoV slider to a wider view it helps alleviate the issue.
Dont care about the PVE servers myself but at least it stops people moaning on the PVP servers

Do the servers hold a lot of people? Is it a massive mmo game or do they hold like max 200 people? I will buy it if it is like H1Z1 where the servers hold a lot of people, like 1000 or more.
Saw 1 private server that was 100/100 people.
