The Champions Online site has been updated with a brief note to let players know that the game's tutorial is being revamped to "provide better immersion, faster flow, reduced friction points, and clearer explanation of game mechanics." According to the blog post, the reimagined tutorial is currently on the PTS for Gold Members to experience and to give feedback to the development team.
We wanted to wrap this revised tutorial around an established setting in the Champions universe. The Ravenswood Academy is a private school that secretly trains young superhumans on how to use their powers. Taking the old Qularr Invasion tutorial and re-vamping it as a virtual training exercise for Ravenswood Academy is a great way to incorporate our streamlined new user experience into a new story context. We’ve also built a new Ravenswood Academy campus in Millennium City between Renaissance Center and Westside -- we hope you enjoy role-playing at this new venue!

Good Guy Cryptic mentioning Role Players.
Haven't played the game in some time; might see what the new tutorial is like.
(snort) The Tutorial Wasn't the problem in this game.... the GAME was the problem.... well... more specifically Cryptic was the problem....
If only they'd have open world'd it instead of the stupid hubs...
I mean, its been a while since I played, but the world was. "open" just in the same sense COH was "open"
Although you are right, the tutorial .. I actually liked... I don't think that was the issue at all... the issue was definitely directly related to game mechanics. I think the entire power system needs a severe overhaul.
That was the very reason i stopped playing the game when they converted to F2P, never came back on the game since.
This, I agree with.
When I played, the Archtypes are so poorly constructed that Free Form characters totally overshadowed them. Archtypes get so many redundant and flat out bad powers from a single limited pool while Free Forms cherry pick the best abilities and utility things in the game to create literal beast characters. Characters that can deal more damage than Archtypes and be able to heal like a healing character or just flat out buff themselves to an absurd degree.
What's crazy to me is that they ALSO put some archtypes behind a paywall too - as if they weren't already bad enough.
and also to
err... /puzzled. Guys, Freeform is available for silvers since... dunno, 3 years?
Ok, it's pricey, but since it's technically b2p (you buy a slot and you won't have to pay anything for that character in the future) it's not a bad deal. It was already discussed in a previous CO thread (http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/6246783#6246783)
I get what your saying, but how old is CO? 5 years now?
Show me a 5 year old game that expects me to pay $50 for it... and still have to deal with minor inconvieneces (like the gold cap/inability to tint powers), and I'll show you yet another game I'd laugh at and not play.
