TERA: Highwatch PvE Server Coming June 9th

En Masse Entertainment has announced that a new PvE server, Highwatch, will be opening on Tuesday, June 9th. Developers are citing the explosive success of TERA due to its recent deployment on Steam as the contributing factor for the new server.

In addition to announcing the server name, En Masse also posted a short FAQ to talk about servers, both PvP and PvE:

What is the status of TERA's PvP servers?

TERA is seeing growth on all servers since the Steam launch, around ten times the number of new users each week. Before the launch, on average about 28 percent of all new players created their first character on a PvP server. With our most recent data, 36 percent of new players are creating their first character on a PvP server. Character creation is quite evenly spread between all three PvP servers, but new players tend to choose Lake of Tears, followed by Valley of Titans.

Mhm ... tell 'em to learn 'em.  I can see the Tera and PvE quest-centric MMORPG haters cringing as I write.

    Lovin' the alligator tears lol

Very good for Tera and EnMasse, I would like to see some GMs added to those servers to keep the chat clean cause last week area chat was full of f words and racist slurs.

Well the people who originally started playing Tera were mainly PvP players, I remember how packed the PvP servers were when it first launched, but the players from steam probably aren't the same type of players, some of them haven't even played an mmorpg before so it's a little different than people who went to play the game on launch.

A PvE heavy quest-centric game and you say the original players were mainly PvP players.  No one in their right mind believes that story.  That being said ... here we are today and the PvE servers are packed to the brim ... and the PvP servers are, well, ... hurting yet again.  Color me doubly surprised.

Think I may have to retry this game on the new server.

What do you mean? Quest centric? It was collect and kill quests, the entire way up to cap. The launch of the game had a LARGE amount of pvp going on at all times, and yes I can say that a large amount of the players were there for pvp. It had a decent guild vs guild system that a lot of guilds took part in. Also had quite a bit of open world pvp. And I play on MT which has and had the arguably highest population since game launch. Which is a PvP server. So what are you talking about? Every single zone has a high population, and I just logged into a random level 61 quest hub area and theres about 50 people around me. No idea what you are talking about.

Check your facts. MT was the highest pop server 2 years ago. I haven't played TERA since but you're obviously lying or stating false information.

Um.  you do realize that there has always been more PvE servers than PvP servers, right?  Of course you do, but heck, we don't want to muddy everything up with facts, do we? Even so, the point of which server had the highest pop was always a point of debate.  All of the servers where on "high."  Dam, those pesky little details, huh?

You might want to look up the meaning of "quest-centric."

Regarding having the highest population ... did you even read the FAQ?  You probably should start doing a little research before posting stuff from out of the blue in a futile attempt to support a flawed point of view.

On average 28% of players created their characters on a PvP sever.  That's less than 3 out of every 10 players!

En Masse is saying that, not me.

BTW, I'm very happy to see that the PvP servers are doing better.  It's a testament to how good Tera is and how every MMORPG should follow their game model.

Server type doesn't even matter. Once you get max level you will be afk in town using lfg/cross realm pvp matching.

TERA actually had a pretty good foundation to be an open world pvp game but instead of expanding on that they just focused on poorly constructed(and later nerfed to hell)  pve encounters and didnt really care about the condition of pvp servers. It's very sad, the combat system is undeniably fantastic with no suitable content to engage in with it.
