It would be funny if it did a lot better on consoles than it did on PC.
I think it will do much better. You have two totally different player bases, with much different expectations. I think this game will be many console players first foray into a fantasy mmo, some minds will be blown.
Why?
I hope it does well period. Like it or hate it, ESO gives you a lot of bang for the buck which is something we need more of these days.
To those who are playing on consoles
What's it play like?

Don't know yet. Download takes currently forever! Guess download servers are being hammered at the moment. /shrug
Stupid Zenimax for not allowing preloading and only giving the keys out until last night!
It wouldn't be a surprise if it sold better on console - the initial sales of Skyrim were skewed towards consoles after all (about 85%).
However if you do a search on Elder Scrolls and console at the moment .....
A fix is in the works.
Sigh.
The servers went live yesterday hours before the " official " release.
Cant wait to get in and play. I only have access to a slow connection so it would be a few days for me.
Very curious about playability myself. How does the gameplay fare with controllers versus keyboard and mouse? I think we can guess that the graphics will be pretty good compared to other console games.

The youtube reviews were positive.

It's a little early to really run with this, but it's currently #1 for Amazon's PS4 games and XB1 games right now and for video games in general it's #4 (XB1) and #8 (PS4). Dark Souls is incidentally #6 and Splatoon is #10. The other top sellers are cards for PS Plus/XB Live time and 1 PS4 controller.
It definitely will do much better on consoles. The weird thing about the console market is that when an MMO actually launches on it, people flock to it and actually keep playing. Look at the PS4 version of DC Universe Online, ever since launch they have had a high population on the server at all times of the day, while the PC version slowly gets to low from medium occasionally. Phantasy Star Universe is another example, it had a relatively large Xbox 360 population even though it was somewhat obscure and had a monthly fee. FFXIV also has a big playerbase that plays on the PS4. I just have this feeling that because it's an elder scrolls title and the fact that it has ALOT more content than a normal single player game, it will retain quite a few players from consoles.
The only issue with doing that is you have to sit there and watch your download, or at least keep checking on it, which for something like 40+ gigs it gets tedious.
It's hard for me to have an unbiased opinion about controller vs. mouse & KB because I'm so used to the PC version which I play using a mouse that has 14 additional buttons. Personally I find the controller limiting and a bit awkward in a couple of ways: having to hold L3 (i.e. pushing in on the left stick) to sprint... the left directional pad for weapon swapping... simultaneous pressing of L1 + R1 for using the ultimate when L1 and L2 alone are the 4th and 5th skills respectively makes it easy to cast the wrong thing...
Other things though are pretty cool on the controller such as walking/jogging speed being controlled by how far you move the left stick for example.
I'm also finding the inventory system without the tabs for categories a PITA to use when you have a lot of stuff in your bags/bank.
The graphics look just fine @ 1080p although, once again, those of us who run the PC version on a 1200p or 1440p monitor -- which are quite common -- will notice the slightly lesser IQ.
I'm also having a totally unexpected psychological reaction to playing it on the console: on the PC the monitor is a couple of feet away from us and on the console the game is "over there" 6 - 10' or more away. This for me at least makes it feel like it's not me playing it so much as watching it... sort of weird and hard to explain but I wasn't expecting this immersion hit at all.

minus the gamer tags and a few little quirks plays very well on ps4

Oh i beg to differ! plz oh plz go to the ESO forums right now. Get your popcorn and bask in the rage and utter shambles of this console release ERMA GERD!!! What a bloody joke.
It has been stated on the forums that approx 90% of people cannot log in to EU or NA. Player progress is not being saved by the servers currently. So players (if they can log in) are losing all progress on there toons if/when they get back in.
The grouping issues from the PC release are back again.
People paying for Imperial editions are not recieving them.
The was NO public stress test before release except for a small limited number of players for a short beta. The only stress test performed was internal using there own bots! WTF? lulz
This is not the 1st release of the game but imo more like the 3rd. They damn well had the experience/knowledge from there past mistakes to make this better and totaly and miserably failed.
The XBOX and PS releases were originaly announced to be staggered launches to avoid potential issues. So wtf happened there?
Sub canceled left game. "oh but this always happens with an MMORPG release!" Oh come on let's just call a spade a spade and admit they totaly fragged it when they knew better already, piss poor management on there behalf at the least.
So i encourage to grab your popcorn, visit the forums and enjoy
ESO for PS4/Xbox One are on their own (completely seperate) servers than PC.
I am sorry, but this is not a New launch! It's a relaunch on console! The background Tech has been running on PC for a year now!
These issues, especially loss of progression, is inexcusable!
Just for Reference! FFXIV:ARR launched on PC first, then later on PS4! Was totally flawless and fully cross-platform too! One account, one set of character(s) playable on either PC or PS4! Completely seamless experience!
Fact is! Zenimax is a joke in the MMO world! A year later, they still completely lack the experience and have no clue what they are doing. /shrug
A week to fix this? With their track record with ESO on PC. If they can even remotely fix all this mess before the end of the month. I'll be impressed.
It's very simple. The HW nd network infrastructure is geared to handle the average load of online games with a population that is predictably spread out with some allowances for heavy loads. Launches of any MMOs always exceed those parameters and no company that I'm aware of has ever spent money to have a system that is capable of running smoothly with the extra stress of launch day with everyone hammering the server at exactly the same time and loading into the same few areas.
This one is also horseshit, or more appropriately trollshit. The only thread in the ESO forums claiming loss of progress was by someone who wanted to know how to save the game because he lost 4 hrs worth of progress. When asked by a ZOS mod if he had perhaps logged in to the other server (there is one for Europe and one for NA and you can play in both) he never bothered to reply. This Thread where the OP said this:
"How do you save your progress. I played for 4 he's when it came out. Then had to start from scratch when I put game back on."
