There are "poorer" launches on console - BF4 had its problems for example; but there are also very smooth launches - Destiny for example which also uses mega-servers.
Given the problems around the PC launch however from a marketing perspective I think ZoS would have done all they could to ensure a "flawless" launch. Even if they didn't go for a full blown stress test they could - maybe - have invited people who bought the PC to console package to log in last weekend say. (Treated it as a bit of a reward even.)
As I said above if you search on Elder Scrolls + console the what you get is articles on server issues; inability to log on, characters not being visible in-game and so on ... not how good/bad the game itself is.
Hopefully ESO will shrug off the problem; good games can but still - sigh.
My launch experience has been very good on the whole. A couple turds using the PS Camera for a mic & one quest that was a little wonky. No issues logging in although the forums had WWE style thread wars going on for a while. More entertaining than meaningful per the norm.
I'm actually liking the voice com only communications. Go figure. The game feels like it was made for console. Just wish there wasn't so much phasing... But that's a core feature & an old complaint.

Loving the PS4 release. but along the lines of what Charlie Cheswick said... Area Voice chat - bleh.
It goes in and out and is supper choppy. I just ended up turning it off unless I'm in a group.
