Came back with 14 day free trial and..

Ugg.. Well let me first state I used to play this game alot, but I eventually gave it up because mass battles for me were pretty much unplayable.

Now with an upgraded computer.. P-D 3.0g, 2 gigs of ram, x800gt 256meg ati vid card..

After about 1 year I came back and.. man oh man. I never realized how bad the graphics were. And even with my above computer I had to lower alot of things to make the game enjoyable. I am so glad I used the 14 day free trial and didnt pay to play again. This game in my opinion is a waste, I remember when it was not even out yet, there were so many good ideas of what this game was supposed to be like.. all the classes like Vampires, devils, Demons..ect.. spells that would split the ground open, or create large walls of earth (and they would stay there)..and to look at what it has become...the bad graphics, bad performance, and Being a Sunday.. I saw a total of 3 people in the 2 hours I was playing..I remember when it was packed. I guess its something to play untill something like Vangaurd comes out.

So if you are even thinking about playing this game.. please do yourself a favor and do the free trial first. This game might be for you... but I doubt it.. there are better games, with better graphics and better game play that actually run better.

My computer isn't half as good as those specs of yours, and while there were performance issues, I wasn't half as upset as you. I played Horizons for 80 odd hours and I enjoyed every moment of it. It's just so much different than every other game out there.

If you like crafting there is no better game, and the community is the best I have ever had the fortune to come across. Once you tweak the game just right, and admittedly it does take a LOT of tweaking, the graphics are great and it's basically like a vacation from any other MMORPG.

But I guess your glass is half empty and that's just how it is.image

I admit some people like some things and others do not.
I used to like this game alot, I played it non stop for almost a year. (untill COH came out)
When going back to try it using the free tiral (I was bored and needed something to play) I just couldnt grasp the fact at how bad the graphics are in this game, say what you will but they are bad ..though I do take into account the game is old now and the Newer mmprogs that are out or comming out have new updated graphics. My gripe was for the lack of graphic quality.. the performace was not overly great.. and well the place was a ghost "town" if you will.. only thing moving around where the tumble weeds g

On the good side for anyone who is interested, the game was (is) different from others, and if you love crafting then you might like this game, this game had HUGE potential.. but certin problems hamstrung this game unfortunatly. So dont get me wrong.. as I said.. anyone interested in it please use the free trial and make our own opinion. My reunion with the game was not a pleasant one ::::29::

The quality of the graphics is a totally subjective value; set Horizons on Insane Quality/max view distance and the game world can be quite stunning. You don't like the graphics, fine, that's your right. Just because I think the graphics in WoW look like second-rate rejects from a Pokemon cartoon doesn't mean WoW sucks as a game or that people shouldn't play it.

As for only seeing three people, that could easily happen, depending on where you are, what server you're on, what time of day it is, etc. All the new players are directed to a single starting town now, leaving the other three pretty much deserted. That doesn't mean the game is empty. You may have seen three, but on Chaos in prime time, it's easy to find 30+ people just in New Player Assistance chat. Heck, my guild was at 20+ on just this past weekend, and we're not what I'd consider a big group.

Now, if you were playing on Blight, the test server, well, three people on for the entire server is not unusual...

I can't say you're full of it when you talk about only meeting three people; but I do think you were either in the wrong spot or not trying very hard. ::::39::

Okay hows this.. started a new character.. on the RP shard since there are only 2 real ones to choose from. And since you say all new people are directed to one city.. then I Would expect over a 5 hour playing time in sunday afternoon to see more than 3 people. After 5 hours I quickly quit and canceled the account (so I wouldnt forget and be billed).. as for crappy graphics.. I did have everything pumped up the spell affect still looked 10 years old, while the sky I have to admit always looked nice in this game. Character details were laughable. Dont get me wrong as I said I am sure people will like this game.. I loved it for a year..it has thing no other game has done before, and could have been a great game for many years.

The player number is an issue, but it's not really deserted. As for the graphics, they are rather nice even on medium detail, the best quality being one of the best out there.
As for content it has more of it than many mmorpgs, including the most successful ones as WoW.
Probably the only things that it lacks is the websites with info for it,which makes a new player ask a lot of questions but the community there is really tight and you always get an answer for any question if not help to work it out, too.

I would be interested if you would list ALL this content you say it has.

Compare it to WoW, or EQ2 and list what Horizons has which those others do not, and visa versa.

I've always said Horizons was the best game that never was. It had the potential to be great, but the performance issues ran peole off in droves. Now low populations and marginal performance increases keep people from coming back.
My friends and I talk about Hz all the time. We absolutlely love the skill system and the UI. But even the best of our systems choke on the graphics.

If they do an actual performance overhaul, I'll be one of the first ones to try to rally some people back to the game. But I don't want the frustration of being a guinea pig.

If performance was the only issue HZ would have been far more successful. WoW has had major server performance issues, which STILL exist today. EQ2 has had MAJOR performance issues with graphics and the ATI graphics cards. But both games have not only signifigantly out sold HZ but have taken away many former players of HZ. That's because both games have content, HZ does not.

To be fair to this game, they are taking steps to remedy what are it's weaknesses. They just hired a professional writer to write quests (one of which just came out) and they do have a new biped tutorial.

There does seem to be some lower level content issues though, admittidly. I keep finding myself saying "what should i do next" but i may have to just look at the forums a little more and work soimething out
