General: Final Fantasy VII Reboot for PlayStation 4 Confirmed

Square Enix announced today that the much-rumored remake of Final Fantasy VII is indeed a reality and will be heading to the PlayStation 4, though no release or anticipated window was announced. The team did, however, send out a great new video. Check it out!

    OMG. we have only been waiting for this day to come, since.... well since PS2, PS3 and PS4 were released. Now all I need is for Sony to make a next gen Gran Turismo.

    It is not a Sony exclusive. It will simply be out on PS4 first. So PC and Xbox One need not worry if you ask me.

    I would get the game, but is not worth it to drop money on a PS4 just to play 1 game.

    Meh, it'll be bad. One thing is voice overs, it will be really tricky to pin down the characters voices (FF7 does not cointain just cloud, you know). And this will be its undoing.

    I prefer them to retain the classic dialog boxes.

    Hell just sub-titles will work. Leave the Japanese dialogue.

    The fact that they named it "Remake" sounds promising. It's better then "Remaster" where they just copy the game.

    I have some hope that there will be new content included, and ofcourse awesome graphics :).

    This E3 is insane. Literally every game I've ever wanted was announced. A new DOOM that is akin to the first two? Hell yes. A new FFVII remake that is actually more than just a HD upgrade? Hell yes. A new Shenmue ? YES!

    if they want my money they should release it on PC. otherwise i will just watch the whole game on Youtube and be done with it. there was a time when playing games was different than watching them, but the gameplay aspect of games are now casualized so i won't miss much.

    If you watch at the end of the video it says Play First on Playstation 4, which leads me to believe it will have a cross platform release, which most FF games have had. FF7, and 8 had PC releases, 7 had another one later on, plus 13 was on both xbox and ps3 and pc now. So I'm going to have to assume it will be PC, PS4, and XBONE

    i know, but there is a chance it only means PS3 and X1. knowing Sony and Microsoft they will do whatever they can to make sure it doesn't come to PC but they will have to pay a HUGE amount of money to Square Enix for that to happen. because SE is already releasing FF games on PC constantly and we know it will sell millions as well on PC.

    Its says Playstation first, then others consoles or pc.

    Rather seen gameplay then trailer.

    For ages we've wanted a graphical reboot of FF VII.. just bring it out to the PC already, if it turns into a console only title that would be just criminal, just put it on PC i'll pre order it even image

    Disagree.  Think it should be exactly the same verbatim, only with new graphics.  Every change risks messing it up, where making the old game pretty is certain success, imo.

    I don't think it's possible for them to live up to expectations with this game. While I am really looking forward to this, I don't think it was a good idea to do it. It will end poorly.

    Sadly, I think you're right. Just about every design decision that needs to be made in a project like this will alienate one section or other of the fanbase, and no game that could credibly be produced will live up to the remake that people have been imagining in their heads.

    I only think it will end poorly if they try to change it too much.  I mean think about it, how can people hate a game so beloved just because it looks nicer?  I certainly can't.  I will however hate it if they try to change shit, because it stands to take away from what it was.

    Really hoping they don't push their combat changes into this. I like turn based and hoping it sticks to the original.

    I have a really bad feeling they are going to move away from the turn based fighting for some crappy Action based and its going to piss everyone off.... me included.. Just add more bosses areas w/e if u can add drop in co op like the lord of the rings third age that would be amazing. Make the graphics 2015ish and make the mini games multiplayer to and then i could safely say this would be a amazing remake.
