2 weeks in the life of a new FFXIV player

FrammshammFrammshamm Member UncommonPosts: 322

ate the hype...

subbed to try it out...

got my marauder to 21 and Bsmith to 17...

realized i spend more time in gcd per fight than i do actually fighting...

realized there is nothing more than run here and kill 14 X quests that they disguise as "storyline"...

realized that in the 15 dungeons ive run, ive spoken 3 words and used emoted 4 times ( that is the extent of my multiplayer experience)....

realized that i actually had more fun farming my Polar bears in AA than playing this game ( and i quit AA bc it was boring and p2w)...

realized that the only reason im playing this vapid game is bc im waiting for Albion Online to start its summer alpha...

Realized that I prefer watching my monsters auto-run dungeons in Summoners war more than playing this slow ass pos game...

Realized that I havent logged in in the last week

Realized that Im  much happier now

I just realized that you sure do realize alot, it must have been a real tiresome realization to go through all of that just to realize no one cares :/

    Don't like the game.... Fine.

Didn't speak to people in groups.... you're own fault.  I find that when I engage, others engage.  Someone's gotta initiate, why not you?

I love people who play MMO's for a single-player experience.

'The fact that you chose to play it for 2 weeks, chose to play it just like you would have played WoW, by following breadcrumb quests,  then come running here to complain, tells us a lot.'  Who said that OP?

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Your posts continue to stupefy mmorpg.com. These WoW clones are designed to power through the game as quickly as possible with zero interaction needed. In these 10minute dungeon runs people do not talk regardless of who initiates. FFS it's like you haven't played any new MMO in the last decade.

It usually takes two people to have a conversation, unless of course your name is Mgilbrtsn.

WoW, didn't realize I pushed your buttons.  Also, didn't realize that I had an impact on the MMORPG community.  I have played many MMORPGs,  Old and New.  I find that people enjoy themselves more if they initiate things and don't wait for the community to do it for them.  I also find that before I buy a game, I do a bit of research (which includes this site) to see what people are saying.  If you play a themepark, you are gonna get quests that lead you from place to place, so I go in expecting that, so don't find a need to complain.

So you spent a money on something based only on "hype". I take it you didn't do any actual research or you would know how the game plays. Now since you feel really fucking stupid about that, you come onto the forums and cry and try to blame the game and take shots at it's content.

If you wanna boil games down to simple concepts, every game is repetitive garbage. It's about what version of repetitive garbage you find fun and interesting. For you the game of trolling forums seems to be your game of choice. Otherwise what is the point of this post?

It's pretty naive to expect to hit the climax of a story at level 20.

Anyway, just chalk it up that the game isn't for you and move on.

Dungoens in Ffxiv don't take 10 min, try again.

Also it is you who's misinformed. I have spoken to a lot of people in Ffxiv and I find that when I say "hi what's up" and people start talking. I've even added people as friends from those 30-40 min dungeons and ran more dungeons with them.

so go away with your bullshit EQ attitude, you clearly haven't played this game or made the effort to socialise.

Had to lol at this because it is so true. If you pug good luck getting anyone to act as though they can even speak English.....unless of course it is to bitch and call everyone else a nub.

People speak from their own experiences, this is mine. Stop challenging that this does not happen as if we have some reason to lie about it....calling people liars on this board with no proof to back it up can get you reported....tread carefully.

OP, you just learned something here....this game is full of people who will attack you like spider monkeys jacked up on mountain dew if you criticize it in any way, shape, or form.

Except that every single time I have played FFXIV I have initiated talking in dungeons and people will hold conversation. I'm pretty sure it's you who can't get people to talk, probably by being how you are on these forums. Unfriendly.

And your posts continue to prove that you haven't a clue as to what you're talking about, because you've obviously never even played the game. If you had, you'd realize that the only thing 'cloned' from WoW are basic things every high fantasy MMO has.

I had two conversations with people just yesterday during dungeon runs because I initiated them. Again, it's not Square's fault people to make the effort to talk to others. What do you want them to do, send a sumo wrestler to players' houses to sit on them if they aren't sociable?

FFS it's like you've never even tried to be sociable in an MMO made in the last decade. Though given the quality and tone of your posts here, it's most likely your attempts at communication were the typed equivalent of spitting, hissing, and throwing office supplies.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Considering the OP is paying a sub fee to play the game, he has every right to play solo, if he wishes.  If he doesn't want to be forced to do content that is somehow supposed to "teach" him lessons he doesn't want to learn, how can that possibly affect your gaming experience?

Personally, I love it when someone gets agitated because of the play style that someone they don't even know says they prefer.
