Continue Trial version or buy boxed game?

Ok so I like the game and want to continue playing. I heard somewhere that you miss out on some of the graphics updates if you just continue with the trial version... is this true? Does the trial download contain catacombs graphics engine or only old one?

If you already updated the trial version to the Catacombs engine then you have the update graphics. If you have not updated the graphics then you should look at the sticky above for how to download the update.

DAOC wants you to use the latest graphics engine and you will not loose it if you fail to buy the box set. I would suggest that you get the box so you get 30 days more free and all of the expansions. At the very least, to make the game easier to level and better items, purchase and download the Catacombs expansion.

Believe it or not, get the EPIC EDITION, even though you may have the catacombs engine installed,
by Far, the graphics have improved since I bought the EPIC Edition. Correct me if I am wrong, but
I see a big difference since I am using a very high end card. Since every expansion was released,
there is some content which has been updated, this includes the Darkness Rising Expansion.

If you want to continue the game you have two choices:
    1) Continue the trial and then buy Catacombs and Darkness Rising (they are not free, roughly $20 each). You will need to pay $14.95 to activate the game permanently as well as paying for the expansions.

    or

    2) Buy the EPIC box either online or at your local game store. This runs approximately $20 from most online stores and many retail stores as well. It includes 30 days of free play and does not require the $14 fee so this is by FAR the most affordable method.

Note: The reason the epic edition is a graphics improvement over the trial is that the Darkness Rising client upgrades the graphics yet again adding more polish and detail to textures in the game. Simply put: Nearly every expansion has a slight graphics upgrade in it to date. Epic will look better than the trial simply because the trial doesn't include the DR engine.

    Hope this helps!

My advice: Buy the Epic edition. It's far more money smart. Though you may have to wait a day or so for delivery if you buy online.
