Customizing your kingdom: Official discussion thread

This is very good stuff.

I like how EK is just important enough to rouse passion into the campaigns. I am still a little confused as to the mechanism for how guilds/nations will form their kingdom...

Do you guys can share your thoughts regarding this?

All i have seen is a few predefined kingdoms all using basically the same predefined walls with a few non noticeable changes.

Todd says it is a good system to allow you to build what you want,i disagree, the tools as i have seen look very limited.Example i would like to see the ability to rise and lower your land. Also having only seen a small quick peek, the selections within the tools also look to be very limited on predefined assets. So in essence you end up with every keep looking basically the same, sort of like your wife just moving furniture around but really still looks the same.

I realize gaming has to start somewhere and in 15 years we will see a LOT more customization in gaming.Personally i rather not do gaming in small leaps and bounds,i just rather do what we can really good and wait to try and advance customization when we can really do it right with the proper tools.

The ONLY way to really do customization properly in a MMO would be top instance off each players world and allow them to import assets into the game, then players have to download those assets before entering the new zone. That is the true way to to build a world but i don't see it happening because too much information has to be stored server side every time someone adds assets. It could be done by allowing it to store player side but that creates other problems however it has been done in a game like UT99 where players load other custom maps to pvp.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

You and I share the same sentiments. I am excited and curious on how to build and strengthen EK . I am also concerned on how kingdoms will contribute to the gameplay. I have played several MMO and I think customization plays a strong role in a game's lifespan. Let's see on how this will play out.
