WoW>>Archeage>>>What now???

jm668sterjm668ster Member UncommonPosts: 4

I played WoW for 10 years (since vanilla) the last 2 expansion have been a huge disappointment to me... I recently started playing Archeage and love the playerbase the game play BUT the recent news of server merges has me not wanting to pay the patron fee anymore and I can hardly see "wasting" my time playing this game no matter how fun it is.

I guess I am looking mainly for a game much like Archeage I understand this will be hard but... I like the huge crafting system and freedom, I also like the idea of in world player housing,  p2p, f2p, b2p it really doesn't matter so long as it has those things.

I enjoy occasional pvp but mostly pve with an emphasis on making a fortune for my character good lore and questing would be a huge plus.   Please help I am at a loss.... :S

    Age of Wushu

Arche Age with more freedom, more systems and better combat.

that doesn't really look like something I could get into from the website also I really want to find something with player housing preferably in the open world but it would not have to be the main thing there is profitably I enjoy being able to make something of the character by creating things of the land so to speak...

Hate to say it, but your options are really limited.  Age of Wushu really is your best bet.  I really enjoyed it early on, and I believe they just opened a new server in the last few weeks.  If the guild cities are highly contested, you'd probably like it.  School vs school warfare every night and guild vs guild warfare were the most fun parts for me.  It was more sandbox from level 1, don't recall any quest progression to speak of.  PvE was pretty horrid though, and even worse than AA if you can even imagine that.

Ultima Online has the best world player housing by far. It was really fun back then because you can just roam the world and see the creativity of some people with their decor.

If only there's a modern version of it.

gonna try age of wushu I guess but would appreciate any other suggestions anyone has the housing isn't necessarily a must either just a really in depth crafting/money making system also pvp is not really anything I enjoy constantly more so pve/questing/farming mobs etc...

Closer thing be asheron call, but right now it's pretty old, not much new mmo going on, tons of mmo that are on top copy from each other, mmo that can become good, are at the bottom for what ever problem it had no one likes to touch it.

Since you liked WoW you might like Rift. Rift is like WoW in tbc or wotlk expansion, with talent points system like WoW used to have. I've only played Rift to the 30'ies so can't speak of endgame.

Since you like Archeage just have a look for alot of MMO's coming out this year or next. Atleast 10 sandbox games are planned most of them asian. Just try and seach top sandbox games 2015 it will come up with some you definately have to look for.

If you enjoyed PvP in MMO tryout ESO or GW2.

    Goodluck

There lies the reason we hear so many complaints  about mmorpg's,there is not one single game offering the whole package and you know what Jason Statham said about opening the package.

You can get housing in those older games or FFXIV or EQ2 which still has nice housing but then you have the weak crafting side of thing. You missed the most profitable crafting in vanilla FFXI,anyone who really devoted time made a ton of   currency.EQ2 was also that way in it's early stages but that encouraged craft botting to which i witnessed a lot of.

Another game that offered crafting as a solid profit maker and also had game play and stuff  like building boats, guildhalls, housing was Vanguard  however is no longer a game.Kind of sad really that so many just jumped on the Wow bandwagon,a VERY shallow game design yet VG offered so much MORE.I do not believe for one second that bugs had anything to do with it,i feel was more a case of being a Wow fanbois to the bitter end and PC's not being able to handle VG.

So i feel the OP missed the boat on some quality crafting and building stuff in games, now all the games are connect the dots Themeparks and repeat dailies, nothing with a complete package.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    Ok so back on subject..

The modern MMORPG is in dire need of a miracle cure

unfortunately we might not see that for a while until GEN X & Y gamer's slap some sense into this industry.

in saying that i wouldn't be confident enough to recommend anything for you right now.

but here are a few titles to keep an eye out for if you could care but keep your fingers crossed.

some of these are not mmorpg but mmo's

    Camelot Unchained

pantheon rise of the fallen <---- Now with the community

Shroud of the avatar <--- Early Access But looks expensive with housing etc.. i'm waiting on this one

    but super excited

    Shards Online

Star citizen <--- Very Excited for this

    elite dangerous <--- Out now

I'm sure there are some really obscure titles which i have missed but if anyone has to add i would love to hear about them.
