...I'm so tired of an easymode games (like WoW). Infact I hope it's almost impossible to solo. I say that not because I want to be a "hardcore elitist" that mocks casual gamers who don't have the patience. No, I say it because i think this is the best way to build a community when you have to rely and trust other people to survive and advance in the game.
There was one such game called EQ, then it was bought out and corrupted by a bigger company (SOE)

I think that particular problem falls to either poor class balance or just a general overpopulation of a popular class (such as rangers).
It's up to the devs to make every class appealing as possible. Of course perfect balance is impossible, impractical to try to achieve, and quite subjective.
i read somewhere that, like for example...you didn't have a healer in your group....everyone in the group could switch to a "defensive mode" and take far less damage but at the same time kill alot slower.
that way you could still at least function as a group without a certain class but at the same time be far less efficient, i think it is a great idea.....cant remember where i read that though, i should dig that up hehe.

That is a really good idea. But I also enjoy the grouping aspect of the game. I like it because I can make more friends on the game and it also adds to the community aspect to the game. In WoW when I hit 60 I knew maybe 4-5 people outside of my guild. When I hit 50 in EQoA I knew a lot more just because I grouped with them before and what not.

If you want to play a non-solo game and see how much fun it really is go play DD0 while you wait for Vanguard.

right, but you know how it is finding the right class's for the group you need. sometimes you cant find a healer very easy and thats what makes that a kool option.
obviously you will want the best balanced group you can but you don't always have that option unless you want to wait a long time.

I have never been very much of a grouper but I still rather play a game that is centered at groups instead of a solo centric game, as long as it is not impossible to solo ( a la FFXI )
I guess that even though I don't usually group myself it still gives the game a more familiar feeling.

I cannot wait, a game where your chars name and reputation means something again is amongst us all
Because of this ENCOURAGED Grouping it will MAKE people be more community like instead of an all out on their own Vigilante. Which in the end keeps a game alive for years to come.
I do not know if you just mistyped or not, but VG is going to be mainly PvE rather than PvP. Granted, they said that alternate ruleset servers are something they are wanting to do as much of as they can (a PvP servering being one of them), they will mainly be 'blue' or standard PvE servers.
I too am looking forward to VG and I estimate that I will spend the next 5+ years playing.. provided it can even come close to the expectations a lot of us have for it. Here's to hoping
