New EVE servers malfunction causing total loss of player data.

Just kidding....

 

Wouldn't that suck though?  Imagine if the old server building caught on fire and the automobile transfering the original data disks blew up. 

I'm not currently playing EVE but I'm looking foward to seeing how the upgrade works out.  That's quite a data transplant they are doing over there....  I would expect a day or two of bumps once those servers get booted up.

    I would think that for a move this big, they saved multiple time to make sure they had the most current data, and then made backups and backups of the backups, so that if anything did happen to the ones they transfered they would have copies at the original office. But you're right that would suck, though i wouldn't mind being a newbie 14day trial. I think it would be kind of interesting to suddenly level the playing ground completely. You'd have alot of battles as people try to reclaim what they lost. It'd be cool. image
