Archeage just broke

HenchdwarfHenchdwarf Member UncommonPosts: 517

pretty much anyone who uses Norton (perhaps others too) can no longer get into game. We are getting crynetwork.dll 126 errors, and nothing is working.  no ammount of AV exclusions, game reinstallations, directX updates are working. This seems to have happen simultaneously for all affected users, and trion has offered no statement or acknowledgement on the forums, which are lighting up under this issue.

given that is happening on a sunday in june, id say this is gonna be a costly issue for trion to keep on ignoring.

that might be anorton issues if it just broke and trion didnt do anything

Upload that dll to https://www.virustotal.com/ and have it checked. It might be a false positive or it might be a real virus. not the first time a company spread a virus with an update.

Used Norton once and never again. It in itself is a virus. It won't only stop viruses, but pretty much ANYTHING from running on your computer.

Has Norton updated recently?  Symantec have history of screwing stuff up on occasion.  At one point Norton updated and instantly blocked any PC it was installed on from accessing the net.

Well, it is at least better than McAffe but yeah, there are far better antiviruses and firewalls for free.

However is it such a common software that Trion really should have seen this comming and fixed it before launching the patch.

forget norton. ged nod32 + comodo free firewall (incl antivirus) and you should be fine.

    I use Nod32 works great.

As much as I love a good ole Archeage bashing, this thread is pretty ridiculous. Come correct OP!

Umm wow - so Norton has a false positive after their last update - and it's Trion's fault?

So every time an antivirus has a false positve it's not the antivirus fault now?

What kind of BS double standard is this - oh wait - I know it's because it's Trion

TRION IS ALWAYS AT FAULT -

Here's the official thread - lol

Then there is the other extreme which you practice, where it is never Trion's fault....

    There he goes again...

Of course its not Trion's fault, nothing is their fault... After all the mess they did with this game, nothingggg is their fault...

    This guy...

I seem to remember you blasting Archage pretty hard, funny to see a little change of heart. Not talking trash, I just find it kind of funny in the day and age of hate.

XL games do the fix and patch:) Trion report it to them.

Not a change of heart at all. I hate Trion and loved Archeage. I also know that when an anti-virus updates on the same day as a game, things will happen. Especially if they're altering the file structure. AV's will do its best to prevent the change as it looks suspicious. It's how they're designed.

The fact that you use Norton at all means you pretty much deserve it. Unless you're over 70 of course.

Myeah, kinda hard to argue about that.

But i trust him, he will come up with something creative...

At this point, just blame it on the aliens, i mean nobody can disprove that...

OMG, you have defended Trion in every one of those situations but now suddenly you call them Trion screwups.  Can you please pick one side of the fence and stay there?  At my age I get confused when you defend Trion for Dolphingate in one thread and then call it a screwup in this thread.

Oh you can sift through my threads and find that I always called these trion screwups. This is not the first time I've said this.

I looked though your old posts for about 60 seconds and found this under a dolphingate thread:

"Still this entire thing comes to down to basically jealousy over petty stuff in the big scheme of the game - this was way overblown again

Drama - so much drama over what exactly - heh.

    Perspective"

Can you show me exactly where in that sentence you seemed to indicate that Trion did "anything" wrong?  I'm sure somewhere in your 8000+ posts you may have hinted that Trion did a tiny thing wrong and then justified it by saying every game company does it too.  Does that count?  Could you link to all these posts where you say Trion "screwed up"?  I can promise you I will link 5 posts where you defend Trions action for every one post where you condemn it.

Umm so you are saying that software companies can *forsee* what Norton is going to mark as a virus and fix it before it happens???? And how can anyone predict what Norton will do... crystal ball? Precogs? I mean if this was predictable than virus and Trojan makers would simply predict how to avoid all detection, forever. We've officially crossed into absurdity with this notion of being able to control and predict a future antivirus update.

Obiviously when a company "officially recognized Archeage as hazardous to your computers health" you can tell there is some serious issues with the game that causes these trouble. The same problems that happened between ArcheAge and Norton will eventually happen again UNLESS Trion make sure that they follow the rules... Rules of logic.

Logic being, if one of the most well known and used anti virus is having trouble with your game constantly, maybe ITS NOT NORTONS being the problem... But you know, nothing is Trions fault and in every screw up, you came up here and literally argued with everyone.

You're toxic as hell for this site and i really wonder why you havent been taken out already.
