EVE Online is letting their players know that there will be a 24 hour disruption of service on Tranquility. That's the bad news. The good news is that the disruption is coming to allow for a great hardware upgrade. Have a look below.

Tranquility Hardware Upgrades Today 21st of February 08:00-08:00 GMT! We're doing massive hardware upgrades to Tranquility, for 24 hours, starting 08:00 GMT on Tuesday morning. We're fully replacing all our proxy and application layer, a total of 70 IBM Dual Processor 64-bit Opteron Blade Servers, moving to a new hosting center and upgrading our internet backbones. In the coming months, we will procede with our database layer upgrades to 64-bit and further TMS Solid-State RAMSAN storage. We apologize for any inconvenience this upgrade may cause. |

Just wondering *sorry if its the wrong place to put this* but is EVE any good?
i like mmo's like WoW (wish i still had acnt), knight, and fantsy swords and stuff. u get the point?

It's a spreadsheet in space game with PvP. No knights, horses, swords, elves or any of that.
Lack of elves is a good thing.

well , i wouldnt say spreadsheet, because when you get down to it, all games are basically that, witha twist or three thrown in.
eve is a univers, 5000 systems, 1 server, 20,000+ people at peak times atm and growing.
eve is a free for all environment, be anything you want to be.
if eve could be compared to a fantasy style game, I would say it would be the first 2 years of UO.
in otherwords, eve is the best game out there atm.
over 20 years of mmorpg's and counting...

Wierd, got the news email for this the day after it was complete... And the servers were back up before the 24 hour downtime estimate. So far they seem to be running smooth. Hopefully it does what its supposed to do.
Oh and haha, my first post and been a member for over a year.
Yes seems the upgrade went much easier and faster than expected. The servers where up and running after around 16h instead of the expected 24 and seems very fast and stable.
Time will tell if this upgrade is enough to facilitate large fleet battles or not.
