It looks good but crafting uses to be boring

I play Saga of Ryzom now and getting materials for crafting and crafting is really tedious. It was the same with Horizons. I dont like crafting if i depend on that to get things. If i can get same good items without it its ok cause then you have a choice.

    If you don't like to get the materials, try to buy them to another player. But to have a simple thing like the WoW craft I prefer that there is not any.

    I think that the craft is one of the most important things of a MMORPG.

    Well, for me its terribly boring. In EQ there was crafting but the important thing was just to kill the boss to get the ubber mats. I dont like to be endless hours alone just doing the same thing, i cant understand how that can be funny. At least in hunt you are in group and you have to explore. I just want to hunt and get ubber mats and then just give it to a npc crafter or somethign like that for some money. So when i game uses crafting skills usually means that they will be more powerful than the ones that you can find in mobs cause in other way everybody just will go to hunt ubber mobs to get the best items and in that way i depend on a person that craft something for me, which i hate cause in that way the crafters are the ones that will have the best items cause they will get lot of money to buy other items.

    (old) SWG crafting > All. I hope we will see something like that again.

    Every time I read your post, I die a little inside...

    Its to stop botters bro, and give the crafter a chance to get out into the game, thats why they make you harvest items..

    I agree with DrSmash, SWG crafting was the best.

    I definetly hope they make it so fighters fight and crafters craft. In wow fighters fight and craft.  There is no stand-alone crafter.  The RP elements of having your own store and being a full-time crafter/playboy are fantastic.  SWG (old) was perfect in this way.  Vanguard seems very exciting.. one of the only games on the horizon that I'm drooling over

    In vanguard everyone can have a crafting profession, including all the adventure classes.

    <hope this isnt a double post>

      This is correct.  However it will differ in the fact that 2 different people who are say Weapon Smiths, will most likely not have the same set of recipes when they hit max level in crafting.  That 'cookie cutter' style of crafting (WoW's for example) where all crafting is the same, is not as fun.  Im looking forward to experimenting with VG's crafting.

      Also.. while crafting, you can experiment with known recipes to try and improve upon and discover hidden recipes.  This can lead to someone discovering how to make the "Uber Longsword of Doom"  Then, since that recipe is considered an 'epic' discovery, it could be taken out of circulation so nobody is even permitted to 'discover' it for the next week or two.  In addition to that, there is no specific road map to learning any particular recipe.  Each character is unique.  Just because John Doe combined weapon A with component X and discovered a new recipe does not mean that Jane Doe will learn that same recipe by doing the same experiment.  That sounds rather cool to me.

    Best crafting ever was SWG bioengineer crafting. Each DNA sample was unique, and each creature required five DNA samples. Different traits would be passed on more heavily depending on the slot the DNA was placed, and creature specials were dependant on specials of the DNA used and it's placement and quality. In the end, no two creatures were the same, but using a similar recipe usually resulted in similar creatures if the DNA was comperable and the experimentations went the same. I am sure it was quite database intensive, but it was the only crafting I have ever seen without any real recipes where a crafter's dedication and real experimentation with different DNA types resulted in totally unique creations which could either then be shared (even though the results were never exact), or kept to one's self.
