[Interview] Star Trek Online: New Armada System to Benefit Large & Small Fleets

In between major stories, generally introduced through expansions such as Delta Rising last fall, Cryptic puts out mid-season updates that have been becoming larger and larger over the years. Half-season updates tend to be more on focused on system updates, but occasionally a big feature wends its way into one that gives players something wickedly awesome to both look forward to and to experience once the update goes live. Be sure that Season 10.5 will give players lots to explore.

The Armada system sounds like good stuff, it should have been included ages ago but better later than never, I for one am a member of a 4 fleet "guild" and have 2 fleet "banks" of my own so this will be very good to increase the chances to get fleet credits of most members, it will also increase the community hopefully

LFF new player who is very casual. I've been playing for about 2 months and am still learning the basics. STO is so diverse when it comes to activities. There is a lot to know. :)

I thought fleets could already do this without a system. I was in a fleet that merged with another one. It increased member and fleet tier by doing this. I don't get it.

And it's Eisenberg, not Eisenburg. Would probably be a good idea to confirm these things before posting an article...

To quote Borticuscryptic: "The Armada System will not allow for cross-faction organizations when it launches."

That's great and all but one thing that won't benefit the players is the same jarring restriction on the daily dilithium refinement that's been there since launch. 8 k simply is not enough to survive in this game sadly.

it sounds a lot like the Coalition system from the dearly departed City of Heroes.

Will fed and KdF fleets ever be able to merge into an Armada? Since the war is over in the games time line and we're all fighting a common enemy now. My fleet/ guild has 2 fed fleets and 1 kDF fleet and it's hard to build all 3 at the same time. It would be easier to manage 1 Armada as opposed to 3 separate fleets. As it is now a lot of my game time goes into managing fleet holding, grinding dilithium and converting fleet credits earned to duty officers for the next project. By the time I'm done with one fleet I don't want to do the others let alone play the game.

Please allow cross-faction armadas and give the KDF some long over due love

For a few years I probably played this game every other day on average & enjoyed it.  Last summer sometime whenever they got rid of the Dilithium store I had bought a few items planning ahead for a few created yet not played toons to eventually use.  I remember they were not character bound because I used my Account Bank to move them.  Then a patch or two later they were all character bound.  I used their petition process with no remedy.  Ever since I have no longer spent any real money for Zen & I used to buy some whenever they had a Zen sale.  I now play a few hours about every other week.  Mostly just to see any changes.  It's still a good game, but over the last year & a half a lot of their changes have been more restrictive & coercive though this new Armada system has promise.  I still do not regret my Lifetime I had bought a couple of years ago while on sale, but I would find it difficult to recommend anyone else to do so currently.  When beginning to play & leveling to 60 a subscription is definitely worth it for the extra perks, but after that it's hit or miss depending on casual or not or what you want.

I love how some people start ..stuff.. a thread about fleets coming together is not the best place to vent about other things ...sigh sad

As fan of ST i would love to play some GOOD MMo game. But sorry, current is just not. Graphics, movement, physics, ... are even worse then those of Lotro. Lost all wish to login long ago.

So much "meh." There is so much existing content that is not well utilized already in the game that they could use to meet player demands, but no, that doesn't come with the "mug your wallet" new shiny graphics and power creep, so it'll never happen.

If brute force isn't working, you're not using enough.

Still looking for regular players. Seems people play characters in seasons. Fleets get timed so upper ranks can yank all the cred fron contribution for themselves n leave the heavy tribute to the "late comers"
