Games like DAOC + Rage edit + i dont get it

IronrinzlerIronrinzler Member CommonPosts: 4

Hello there!

Forgive me for my terrible english.

My name is ben im 28yo and i was playing dark age of camelot, i was a shaman (midgard) and i still hate Albions

I am trying to find a mmorpg like daoc (RvR) you know something with a purpose. Reach level 50 and then try to defent your domain, the rest of the mmorpg i simple dont get it. i know there is one the camelot unchained im gonna pledge but the release date is 2016 i think, and then is the dk again in beta.

Any suggestions ?

(rage edit + i dont get it)

daoc was a game with purpose, with no end . after u complete your char (level, armor, etc)  craft and bla bla bka you can go and defent your castles .Massive pvp battles, again for a purpose....the guy with the most castles have access in darkness falls. big boss better stuff on loot bla bla bla , simple but effective

i start playing again i did my research and i wanted i game similar. i just dont get it what are u suppost to do in new generation games? go level 100 (another ridiculous think) lets make it 1.000 and then?  forever craft weapons? you will invent electric broom... go pvp vs your buddy? perhaps you can bring your dog to bark

in my attempt to go back in action i start Dragon Nest. You know free and to warm my blood.

now im34 level mercenary. What a hell is going on here. Whats the point of being send in the same dungeon 69 times from the same quest to bring his tooh, his feet, his wing, his wallet ... jesus christ man tell me to bring you the hole demon and get over it. i just dont get it or im getting old i dont know.. and i must reach i dont know 80-90-100 level... then what. defent the city from monsters? wow epic. + another thing. cartoon graphics. wow players. im not gonna say much but its f@cking gay...and u paying for it.

Sorry to say but welcome to the new age of mmorpg's. Old great games like DAoC aren't made anymore. Current mmorph's are candy fodder systems that just can't match up to old style mmorpg's. Group content, meaningful pvp (rvr is so much better), server community, and such old concepts are all dead in modern mmorpg's. Now its a solo game up to max level, no real social or community aspect, easy raid and dailies for your gear grind, and pvp is just endless rinse and repeat with no meaning and mostly solo aspect for most.

I'm hoping Camelot Unchained can give something worthwhile and I love the whole RvR system like DAoC along with a nice craft system. But the complete lack of PvE I think will be a killer for it as I think to many want both PvE and RvR (pvp on 3 fronts in force). It gets tiresome to do RvR all day long and when its not peak time it gets very dead.

again forgive for my english i never did a single lesson.

Then my only hopes goes to camelot unchained.

The Daoc except that it was great he had another feature , he had one of the best community and players why is that? The time he run public i think 2000-1 i dont remember ecaxtly,  paypal, credit cards was not so easy to get or not so popular and i didn't see any prepaid cards for daoc at least in my country so there were less children to ruin and swearing, big guys can be jerks too but not in that level.Imagine that i only played when my ungle was playing to monitor me and btw i was FORCED to play shaman which i enjoy it i am really good at support i suck in everything else.i really miss the entirely game including players behaviors cooporations etc

    Have fun folks

Try Aion perhaps. It's still very active in terms of faction vs faction. Very big battles are waging with the newest update.

Getting to the level cap (65) is pretty easy nowadays; but you need quite a lot of time and effort to get all the pvp armor pieces.

I was just going to post something similar in this forum.

Games with meaningful endgames and large scale wars where everyone could be involved.

Games Ive played like that but had many downsides.

Darkfall (too much hacking and rule switching)

Warhammer (great endgame concepts but gear drops were broken)

Archage (they tried and failed end game is broken)

Guildwars 2 (no real objectives to endgame)

    Is DAOC still around?

Darkfall is the closest thing out there.  Nothing else like it on the market.

ESO is the closest to DAOC, but it just isn't quite right for several reasons, not the least they keep adding "levels" (VR ranks) every so often while DAOC to this day has only 50 levels.

DAOC is STILL the best pvp/rvr mmorpg around, there is nothing even close just a bunch of poor imitations.

I have tried them all, even Camelot Unchained is starting to look lame by comparison.

As above, they simply don't make games like DAoC anymore, even DAoC itself has been watered down and homogenized over the years.

Modern mmo's simply don't have the same community and gamers in general have become decadent and demand instant gratification. What made DAoC great was the realm community, players from all kinds of guilds would band together for the good of the realm, players these days simply don't have that mentality which is why modern copies of the RvR system have fallen flat.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

But how the games change in that direction ? from a MMO  (you are practically depend from other players)  to a MMO solo game? is that the demand of new players? whats then the point then ? its really sad for me. Every time i think Daoc i feel so nostalgic

Instead of always blaming solo play, perhaps ask why so many play solo?  I know between time constraints and asshats, I stay as far away from guilds as I can and as bad as pugs can be, I'd rather lose 50 times in one than deal with the politics, back stabbing and drama I keep encountering in guilds. (*note: think gold-sellers)

RvR type pvp in ESO and GW2 sounds much closer to what you are talking about than Dragons Nest.

I played DAOC for 8-10 years starting in 2001.  I recommend ESO.  It has major faults of why I dont play it anymore but its the closest thing you are going to find.

if you want to know why it has faults, let me know and i'll spend time typing it up, otherwise though, its about the best and closest thing you will get to DAOC, for now, until Camelot Unchained comes out.

Same here, daoc since 2001, i recommmend you try eso.

currently i am playing GW2, just for the fun, but the pvp is nothing alike daoc.

gw2 gives the albion zerg a WHOLE new meaning thats for sure.
