Add Duncan Serling or Sinjin Makepeace to your friend's list, then check it occasionally. If I'm on-line, you'll see me. Send a whisper and I'll team with you to help you out. I currently have 4x20s that have finished the game, but have had as many as 6 (deleted 2 to make room for 2 more until I got 2nd acount). Now on second account, I have a level 12 R/Mo, 13 Mo/Me, and 14 Me/N, to go along with my level 20 W/Mo, R/Mo, E/Mo, and N/Mo. (Getting the impression I like Monk secondaries?)

Anyway, good luck. GW is a great game, and best of all it's free to play! :)

Bought the game, it's cool, but coming from WOW, I get lost in the solo part of this game.  How do you get involved with guilds? How do you get the groups and all? Enjoy playing but still really new to the environments and lack of interaction once you leve the cities

the main piece of advice I can give is the one that was given to me, and that is to be carefull over the guild you choose to join. You will find a lot of spamming goes on in cities, usually something like "Plz join my guild:looking for members, got guild hall blah blah blah." A great number of these guilds fold within a week, and will kick a player out if he or shge doesnt log in for a week or so ( and lets face it we all have times when we cant be bothered) Sit tight, and wait to be invited to join a guild. Those worth joining wont be shouting about thier preasence, but you will find an invite is often given after a bit of chatting to the relevant people.

Have fun, and I hope to see you round Tyria soon.

i played wow trial , nice flying the bird and subway system. very nice npc voices , sound like fantasy cartoon movie for 5 year old kids. its a nice virtual garden with lots of toys to collect. if i didnt have a job i would play for some months , but atm guildwars is alreasy very time consuming , im playing for 9 months and i still dont have all skills. now what guildwars have that wow doesnt is . 100 skills for each profession , each char have 2 professions . that makes 200 skills for one char ... and you can only take 8 skills to combat ... this may sound like a bad thing , but its what makes it a huge mind job . imagine the diferent kinds of skill sets there are . skills for damage , skills for healing , skills for interupting , skills for not being interupted ... etc etc etc etc ...

if you want a walk in the park , play wow

if you want a mind game - > GuildWars

WoW costs way more and has cookie cutter classes (a lvl 20 paladin will be pretty much the same as lvl 60, the skills are mostly the same but with higher numbers) . GW has way more character options and everyone is in one world with billions of instances. Some people like the wow community better, and I would say it is by design, but GW is much more fun in terms of gameplay (way faster).

As for tips? Well just try a few classes out and unlock lots of skills for pvp characters.

It's kind of hard to give you some pointers out of the blue. Where exactly are you in the game? And around what level are you now?

I'm not sure where you are in the game, but in the beginning, you can only make very small groups. Groups are usually made for missions (not quests, but missions). I don't know if you have gotten to the first mission already, but my guess is: you haven't. If you follow the primary quests, they will lead you to the next mission area. You can recognize them by of the button 'Enter Mission' that appears there in the party window. Also, you will see players with icons, classes and numbers above their heads. The first mission is in an area called The Great Northern Wall. You can use the M key to open the large map to see if you got that already.

As for the the whole guild scene: it's a lot harder to break into that. The community is a bit 'offish' and that's probably caused by the fact that you hardly ever meet the same person twice in the game. If you find some people you get along with, add them to your friend list. Hang out and chat with them. And if you get along, ask them if they are in a guild, and whether the guild recruits. It's the most sound advice I can give.

Also, it's important that you know what you're looking for in a guild. Do you want it to be PvE mostly? Social? Do you want a PvP guild? Ask the guild that you're about to join about it. And I agree with one of the other posters: don't accept invites from people who spam 'Looking for guild members' in towns. Those guilds usually amount to nothing much.

I'm impressed in how GW has managed to fix its control options. When I first bought and played GW on release, the controlling was wonky and having delved into WOW,I didn't like the game.

However,I decided since I was a little bored with WOW to re-install the game and see if anything had changed. And the game really felt easy to play,a lot more smoother to control and I like what I see now. There's a general co-operative feel to this game that is interesting,so now I'm hooked on completing GW and playing EVE. I chose a ranger, which I already like.

Already helped a monk in the gate quest, hell you even had to open up the gate with one person to allow the other go through as part of a team. I hope this co-operative gameplay expands further as I level.

Well done NCSoft, you ain't so s**t after all.

i picked up GW about 2 weeks ago and I love it, a week ago I also got into WOW, and I love both, I don't see where you have to like either/or, because they both have things I like, and very little about each I dislike.

I will say that in terms of getting into by myself, I love GW more, because many times I just want to grab the NPC's and run out and do missions. But in WOW, I'm finding that the ability to be out in the wild, and suddenly need and help there are a bunch of people around to help works out well too.

But yeah, I'm also new to the GW-verse, loving every minute of it, I have a lvl 10 Rng/Mes, and a Lvl9 Mo/E.
