It's not made yet, but it's part of your dream.
So in your mind, what would be your Dream Space MMO that must be made?
For me?
1. The best of what makes Eve online work.
2. The size of the playing area like you get with Elite Dangerous.
3. Be able to walk around your ship, if it's that big, and you can interact with your different systems. Even do internal upgrades along with external ones.
4. Be able to space walk.
5. Crafting from A to Z, everything in game can get made by players, and you can add new designs from the games templates. SWG did a good job with this, but I would want it taken even more deeper.
6. Have fully functional Star bases you can hangout in.
7. Tons of social jobs and events to do.
8. Tons of CIV jobs to do in game.
9. Have options to be Free Trader, Mercenary, Pirate or Military service.
10. Be able to take off or land on planets without load screens.
So what are your ideas?

Darkstar One, with the ability to get off the ship at the station or on a planet.
That would be incredible.
edit: I never played EVE, so I know little about it for comparison.
Puzzle Pirates in space, with Vendetta Online's ship combat and EVE Online's graphics.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

ANARCHY ONLINE 2
Just Throw in all that stuff you want. Should see the new graphics engine any day now......any day now.....

Yogurt, "Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made. Spaceballs-the T-shirt, Spaceballs-the Coloring Book, Spaceballs-the Lunch box, Spaceballs-the Breakfast Cereal, Spaceballs-the Flame Thrower. "
That's a quote from the movie obviously but I say lets make Spaceballs the mmorpg.
A Babylon 5-like MMO around a huge spacestation where you can do whatever you want...
- complex crafting
- visit clubs and bars
- social interaction with npcs and players
- visit holodecks like in star trek
- PvP broadcasting on huge screen
- many professions (miner,soldier,explorer,crafter ect...)
- visit planets and solarsystems
just anything you can think of.

Firefall before the original team left.
I have my hopes on Project Genom.
And a plethora of UE4 games.
Neocron was nice.
Natural SelectionMMO would be epic.
Sway all day, butterfly flaps all the way!
Basically I would want EVE Online with some changes made:
1) Earning experience through active play. And being able to apply that experience to skills I choose.
2) Free flight (on top of the flight system that already exists...just as an additional real option).
3) Actual sandbox features (like being able to design your own ship, manufacture and sell it).
EVE online but all the resources put into Dust 826 were instead used for walking in station which was, instead of a studio apartment, an optional conversion of a third of the stations into a Deadspace clone so you can dock and 3rd person shoot necromorphs co-op or open world dungeon with others.
I'm looking forward to No Man's Sky, but I hope the story has some depth. If not, I'd wish for a Dune-type story.
1) the original version traveller rpg.
2) Larry Niven's tales of known space and his other space related books (man kzin, etc).
3) Futurama
4) Starship Troopers (although a fps might be better).

LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you playing an MMORPG?"
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
** 1 open persistent universe no 'realms',
beautiful graphics,
1st person or 3rd person
with voice control allowed,
use of VR possible,
NO instances,
no cash shop,
no annoying reminders to buy stuff ingame,
a real universe simulator,
open PVP possible,
sandbox, tons of career options possible,
space sovereignty empire building,
no singleplayer option.
no catering to ex-WoW players who claim it is too difficult or boring when they fail and demand dumbing down the game
Something like that.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
1. StarCraft MMORPG with more sophisticated graphics.
2. Stargate MMORPG.
3. Star Trek MMORPG, virtual world style and not just about starships and combat.
4. Star Control MMORPG with all of its quirky humor.
P.S. Forgot to mention that I would love to see a Dragon Age MMORPG, as long as they put less emphasis on action combat and either slowed it down or allowed "space bar" freezing during combat.
I'd go for something more like X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. Ideally with the Star Wars IP, but any well-done starship designs would do in a pinch (Freespace, Starlancer, etc)
