[Column] Guild Wars 2: A Little of Everything - When Will Heart of Thorns Launch?

There haven't been a whole lot of new content or reveals to talk about lately, so this week, Jason tackles a few smaller topics that have been gnawing on his brain like an underfed karka hatchling.

This sounds about right, actually. If not the specific dates, some sort of launch announcement at PAX Prime, their home turf, and a holiday-window launch for the expansion itself. Yep, good call, Jason.

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

I think launching it the 28th of august still is rather likely if the betas work out. Then again, 3 of november surely is within what is possible as well. I guess we will have to wait and see. :)

i think this is highly unlikely - i think we wont see the expansion befoure autumn or even holidays...look at the pace they are releasing new infos - they will release all specs before release and so far it was about 1 spec a month

They announced HoT way too early.  All the hype is already dead.

They probably delayed due to the backlash, and want to add more content to it now.  It was probably going to come out during their anniversary in Aug.

It's also interesting that Wildstar is going F2P in Sept. or Oct., so a Nov. release date is more likely now.

Completely agree. Not a single post about what they are planning on doing to fill in the serious holes they have in PVE combat either for certain classes including pet behavior/skills, conditions (not talking about bleeds there are others you know), unnecessary nerfs to PVE due to PVP design flaws (ahem Engineers kit refinement leaving a massive hole where a heal used to be), etc etc. Specs were supposed to be their answer to that and so far I've seen nothing. Who are they racing with?

what they should maybe consider is making certain mechanics work differently in pvp than they do in pve...?

The timing for launch announcement may be best at PAX. But I think they had preferred Gamescom as GW2 has most fans in EU.

Hey I know, let's give a monkey a dart board and whatever numbers he hits will be the release date...

They better hope they don't delay it much more or Fallout 4 will be taking the limelight when they are going to release. It's pretty close as is, merely a week or two apart from each other, and no offense to the GW2 fans but um Fallout 4 is going to make a bigger splash then an expansion to a game will. There really isn't any point to deny that.

So they need to release before or way after if they want people to take notice, preferably before so people aren't caught up in playing fallout 4.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

I'm not really concerned about the release date, I can wait for the expansion pack until they get everything working. However what I still don't understand is the extremely slow release of information. They started out too strong with specialization reveals then suddenly fizzled out. For me it felt like there wasn't even a slow decline in information it just became nonexistant or insubstantial. As interested and excited as I am in playing the revenant class I would like to know more about the future of the classes I can play now and what changes are up for PvE and PvP. If they aren't ready then the hype shouldn't have been started so soon.

They released what they consider enough information to set up pre-purchase.

Rest will come "when ready". Summer is also by large margin slowest time for (any) MMO, so why waste good hype in mid summer.

Cool. Hopefully they'll do a sale for HoT around February then.

As much as i can't wait for the expansion releasing in November is a terrible idea. Considering there are some huge name games coming out around then such as fallout 4 and more.

well i bet at Gamescon they will reveal the release on September and they will promise some staff which will come AFTER the release and half of these will enter in the long term, and half from these which will come to players will be full of bugs. Casual story for a casual game, netter hold small bucket when you hear for many cherries, in my country people say...
