The guys over at Steparu.com have posted a new closed beta review of Dragon's Dogma Online. The reviewer covers topics including what type of game is DDO (more of an Action MMORPG), combat and interactive battles, final bosses and more. The review is also accompanied by several videos to show off some of the game play in action.

Please do keep in mind, that this game is in Closed Beta Phase. I hate to be the one that breaks the bad news, but this game has a Gacha system and players can get OP weapons in it. What the truck? Yes! The Gacha offers S and A rank weapons similar to those mobile games, lmao. The weapons received from Gacha is currently capped at level 10 and it's a lot stronger than my level 15 HQ +3 crafted item, GG. The big question is will it be stronger than a lol 20 weapon? Unfortunately, the closed beta had a level 15 cap so I couldn't compare it to a level 20 crafted normal weapon or a crafted rare boss weapon.

What Steparu says about the game world reminds me of Guild Wars 1. You had a sort of hub where you could party up, then enter the world outside of that hub without seeing any other players. It was more like a sort of MORPG than MMO in that regard.
The cash shop is not that surprising, considering it's Capcom.
Other than a central town which can hold up to 100 players, each map is instanced to only the player and his or her party members.
If it can capture the sandboxy gameplay and dangerous atmosphere of the console version it should be great. Looks like I might even be able to play it on my PC from what Steparu says.
Btw, the power of "gatcha" weapons was bought up by closed beta testers and the response from Capcom was that when the game is released the most powerful weapons will be player crafted.
The game comes out on August 31st on pc, ps4 and ps3.
That's exactly how GW1 worked, except there was more than one town where the players could meet (called outposts and you had to discover those outposts by going through the maps or doing missions).
Meh, cash shop is stupid, but since it'll just be me and my party outside of hubs, I couldn't care less. My friends and I won't be doing cash shop crap, so I won't feel like I'm being screwed by said cash shop.
Is it stupid? Yes. Do I care as long as it doesn't directly affect my gameplay? Nah.
Its a Japanese game, which will be released on multiple platforms and according to Steparu it could be fairly easy to play it even without a VPN. Also is the sequel of an awesome console rpg (which was released in the West) so there are probably quite a few people that are familiar with it.
Besides that, even if it was a Korean mmo, I would love to hear about it.
