Searching for THE mmo...

Hey y'all,

So I am pretty atypical of most of the folks posting in here searching for that hidden gem of an MMO they haven't tried yet, I've gone through the triple A titles like WoW/FFXIV/LOTRO/etc-  but something seems to be missing from them. They all are great games in their own right mind you, but what I am really searching for is a good game with an outstanding community, one that really brings you back to see the other people who play the game more than getting that next piece of loot. I'm not really picky, I hail from the likes of Nexus Kingdom of the Winds - so if the graphics are 2D or 3D, anime or hyper realistic - I will be open minded to any suggestions offered up.

    If community is what matters to you then I don't see why you aren't playing FFXIV still. That has the best community I've ever seen.

    Most of us are astill searching..>The hard thing about this site is most of the posters recommend games you have to pay for that arent very good either....Alot of this site is hype and flavor of the month MMOs.......

    I'd check out Istaria.  It's older, but still has regular development.  It's not a typical themepark.  It's not a typical sandbox.  It's F2P with optional sub.  It's what I consider a niche game in that population is smaller than mainstream, but with that it seemed, to me at least, to be strongly community oriented.

     

    Another along those lines would be Saga of Ryzom.  I don't know much on this game as it's not one I've played myself.  I don't know status.  I don't know community.  I do know that several years ago it was a common suggestion for people looking for non-mainstream non-toxic community.  I'm not sure if it's F2P now or what.  It changed monetization at least once, and I'm not sure.
