Now I'm playing XBoxOne version and I gotta say it feels so much better than on PC.  I didn't like it at first, I thought the PC had superior graphics (and maybe it does), but after creating a new character and putting a good 40-50 hours back into it I am loving it.  I think this game was really meant for consoles and now I agree with those who said a year ago that PC was just a beta for the console version.

    I agree.

I have the PC version and bought the 20$ digital PS4 version and I am enjoying it MUCH more on my PS4 than I did on the PC.  I still liked it on PC but I just feel the game was definitely made for consoles.

For the sake of all that is holy, do not play the game on consoles.  I tried and in less than an hour of play, I boxed it back up and haven't even considered looking at it again.

Compared to PC, the controls are worse, the graphics are way worse, the UI is worse times infinity +1.  You can't MOD the game at ALL.  The voice overs did not work at all.  Maybe it was a bug, maybe it wasn't, I don't know.

The only remote redeeming quality was the locational VOIP, which seemed to work fine.  Massive waste of money.

Don't listen to this guy.  The graphics are almost exactly the same on console as they are on PC.  if anything, they look a bit sharper on consoles, but that may just be due to my TV.  The real downside to the console version is that you are limited to 30 FPS whereas the PC version has no limit.

Secondly, voice overs work fine.  Not once have I had any issues to where I didn't hear the voice overs.

Control-wise, the game is probably better on PC, but the gamepad controls are fine.  It's only slightly more involved than Skyrim or Oblivion for consoles in that you have special abilities mapped to the four face buttons and two shoulder buttons.

I don't see how the UI is "worse" on console considering it's the exact same menu-driven UI that is on the PC version only there's no mouse pointer.  Even without a mouse pointer, it's not like it's difficult to manuever around the screens.

True, you can't mod the game, but for some people, that's a positive.  At least everyone you're playing with is on equal footing.

Honestly, I think it comes down to how you plan to enjoy the game.  I've played on PC before and am currently enjoying the game on console, but I can already see ways in which it's going to be hard to enjoy console ESO without a lot of friends playing alongside you.  No text-based chat means virtually no communication with players you don't already know unlike the PC version which has text-based chat allowing you to communication in and outside of groups without a headset and to ask questions and for support in zone chat.

PC version always wins as long as they make an optimized version and in this case it is optimized. the difference is minimal though specially in this case.

I tried ps4 last night. Graphics wise it felt very similar to my pc; show it next to my pc to any non gamer or person who just doesn't care about graphics as much as me and they couldn't tell you which was which.

The controls on ps4 were fine as well. Very fluid with the controller and generally felt comfortable. I used the voice chat but in 2 hours only found 1 other person using it. He had been playing a while and said most people just get in their own parties, so don't expect to make much use of the area wide voice stuff.

For me, the killer was A) most people won't have a keyboard, even if I do, so chat was quiet. And everyone is doing their own voice thing so... Not a lot of talking going on

    B) for some reason playing on TV vs monitor felt less immersive. I guess case of the distance; I sit close to my monitor.

In the end, I chose pc.

However relaxing in my recliner I can pretty much play all day & night if i so desire and not have a backache. When I was younger and played DaoC for 16 hour sessions sitting in front of a PC didnt bother me. Today after 2 hours I am ready to be off the keyboard and in a comfortable position. The console version is very good IMO. The PC version is THE best version of the game overall tho. I just sacrificed some for a more comfortable and longer play time in game.If they would have released controller support for the PC version i would still be there today. And no  xpadder just doesnt compare to native support. For PvP the KB / Mouse, for PvE a controller. That option would have kept me loyal to the PC version. But this is just my personal preference. Yours may differ. Now off to kick back in the recliner and play some ESO =)

I play my pc laying on my couch on a 50 inch projection screen. I like my custom phone controls better than a ps4 contoller.

You do realise 1080p means 1920 by 1080 60 fps. If it is locked at 1920 by 1080 30fps that is called 1080i

I have been playing on pc, I used to hate this game, but I gave it another shot, I liked it so much this time around I dropped 100 bills on the Xbox one version too. I can tell you that I don't regret buying it for console as well and I don't play on my pc as much anymore, really enjoying the quietness of the controller, proximity voice, and kicking back on my recliner farming kills or whatever I feel like.

For me with a 3 monitor setup which works out great and pick of mods and text chat, I prefer pc.

The game will do better on consoles for a few reasons:  No bad launch, no dedicated ESO trolling, the game is newer there, there are less alternatives, and there is a much larger Elder Scrolls fanbase on consoles.

The PC community will be hard to get a number on because of the megaserver.  The megaserver certainly does what it is supposed to, because I see people everywhere.  The game feels like it is very active.  I do not know how to a better reading on the number of players on pc other than the alliance campaigns.  I myself am getting a bit frustrated doing the alliance war because sometimes my abilities do not seem to go off.  Because of that I spend nearly all my time so far questing, and I see people everywhere I go - every delve, every quest, every town.  Not quite every dolmen, sometimes I can solo those before anyone shows up.  Maybe people find the dolmens less interesting than whatever they are doing.

It's going great on both.. but on console it's like a brand new game.. most of them didn't even know it was on PC for ages. So, it's got that new game hype.

I have it on both.. PC is much better for the MMO aspect because you can type to each other and all that, advertise guilds and trading etc. Using a controller though is very good for this game. Kicking back with your feet up and ease of control is perfect. So, it depends what you think is more important to you. It does play awesomely with a controller though, they claim the PC version will get proper controller support but it's not looking very promising so far. I know you can use xpadder or something like that to do it on PC but you can't control the inventory and crafting easily with one.

Both versions are extremely populated. Some of the mods on PC are excellent; LootDrop, SkyShards, LoreBooks and Minimap are some stand out ones. They break immersion so it depends on your playstyle I guess.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

So putting aside all the juvenile console vs PC rhetoric here are some pro and cons I've found from the console version:

    PROs on console:

    • Its very polished, runs smooth and works great.  The time it had on the PC did in fact help refine the game even further and consoles in general run smoother since they only need to design the game for one piece of hardware basically.
    • If you have a job like me where you are in front a computer all day, being able to come home and do a fun MMO while relaxing on the couch and not having to sit at a desk is a dream come true.
    • They did a good job on the controls.  The console controls seem very intuitive and easy to grasp.
    • They fixed or changed some substantive game mechanics.  Like the soft caps I dont believe are in the PS4 version so everyone isnt speccing all their attribute points in health, gives more variety and freedom in char development.
    • Integrated voicechat makes chatting with your friends easy.
    • Playing the game on a 60 inch flat screen.
    CONs on console:

    • Given you dont have a keyboard, trying to chat with random strangers or ask questions in chat is much harder. In general the integrated voicechat and lack of keyboard with console makes it very easy to chat with a small or close group but harder to interact on a larger scale (though not impossible).
    • Modding to the extent its allowed, with custom UI and apps to help you craft etc will probably not be present on the console version.
    • While the PS4 graphics are really good, if you are one of those folks that wants to run things at much higher resolution that HD then you're out of luck.  You will need the PC version for that.
Ive played MMOs on PCs my whole life and am really enjoying a real MMO like this on a console. I highly recommend.  If you are unsure and buy it for PS4, just make sure you buy the disc version and not the digital download.  Then you can always sell it later since the disc isnt bound to an account.

Why would I want to pay half of the price of a computer to get half of a computer? And can do only about 1/4 of the work a computer can do.

Dude... the "i" and the "p" refer only to whether a 1920 X 1080 frame is rendered all at once (p) or whether 1920 x 540 frames are rendered one at a time (i) to provide an interlaced illusion of 1080p.

Frame rates have nothing to do with it. You can have 1080i @ 120 or 60 FPS, and you can have 1080p @ 25 or 30 FPS..

Did you think that when you're playing a PC game on a 1080p monitor and the FPS drops below 60 the game switches from p to i? image

I have switched from PC to console a long time ago not just for this computer but for all MMOs and I've haven't been happier. I'm no longer dealing with terrible game design choices, a community that's so full of hype that they can't make proper decisions on games based on observation and logic. These people who complain about the console have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to performance basically the console gameplay is just like those games that are designed for machines who's parts and software are designed to work in harmony so it far exceeds performance on PCs especially since those who keep touting the pc performance leave out the facts like having to overclock processors or being a programmer to make changes to drivers to get things to work as they expect them too for high performance which most players shouldn't have to deal with.

Then there is the aspect of these large companies having to deal with the bugs which is nice because there is a second series of support for players. See on the PC bugs that cause problems with gameplay are generally ignored by most companies (case in point, the skillbar bug on Star Trek Online that's been there since 8.5 (their latest update is 10.5) this is something that's been game breaking for a long long time now and they've still not fixed this problem.

That doesn't happen on the console because the makers of the consoles have agreements with the game publishers which puts extra pressure on these companies to have a certain level of support for their game titles. So when a company isn't doing what they should to fix the problems you do have advocates to help you on the consoles whereas the PC community have no one to help them which leads to more problems like companies taking advantage of the players simply for profit.

I've not been excited for an MMO for a long long time now until I saw this game the changes that were made to it over the year and then the transfer to the console and I'm totally getting the update when it comes out. I'm not at all surprised or sad that it's coming out a month later than the PC version and here's why, I have an Xbox One and they just announced backwards compatibility which is coming out in the Fall which is exactly why I'm having to wait so it's still a win win because not only do I get to play the 360 games I never experienced I also get to play the DLC that's coming with all of it's fun changes. :D
