Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft: Mobile Version Outpaces PC Version in Revenue Generated

Superdata is reporting that, for the first time since its debut, the mobile version of Hearthstone is bringing in more money than the PC/Desktop version. The rise seems to coincide with Hearthstone's release for phones, as prior monetary gains had been low following last year's iPad release. Currently, all mobile versions have crossed the $10M mark, while PC revenue has tumbled to about $6M from a high of over $15M in preceding years.

Check out the Superdata graph below.

Interesting. I'm not surprised that it's doing well on mobile. It looks amazing and it's pretty much a perfect port from PC to phone/handheld.

    Agreed, not surprising at all.

The game is perfectly suited to mobile devices.

I loved playing Hearthstone on my cell but since the last update the amount of data  exceeded the size of my cell.

Now it won't let me update/fully reinstall and without doing that I can't move the game to my sd card either.

Either way I guess cell phone players are used to frequently pay for their apps so this doesn't come as a surprise.

I think you'll find this is a trend on the console side as well with many games that have pc versions because people are tired of the pc community's nonsense really. I think it's a healthy shift.

Not surprising.  Close to 95% of the world has a cellphone or access to a mobile phone.  While, not all of those are smart phones, ~22% of the world owns or shares a computer.   I won't be surprised if the sales keep skyrocketing for mobile and stabilize for pc players.
