Some more information about primary/secondary class

marctmarct Member Posts: 75

I would like to find out more information about primary/secondary class.  This little twist intrigues me.  Some of the interesting things that I have seen talk about the benefit of choosing the same class for primary and secondary skill, as well as the ability to mix classes to create combinations that work well, or not so classically together.

Can one of those GM's or Simu folks give a little insight as to the nuances this provides to Hero's Journey.  Talk about some of the interesting things this opens up to me.(the players) And it would be nice to even here about some of the nuances this brings that are not so skin deep.

On a side note will race/class combinations have any effect?  i.e. Will an Ilvari Gearknight/Gearknight have the same ablities/effectiveness as a Burian Gearknight/Gearknight?

thanks looks great so far,

marc.

I really wish there was more info that I could share with you on the classes, but I cannot. :(

Sometime in the not so distant future though! image

Last I knew, you couldn't put the same class in the primary and secondary slot.

Yea, I think that was the last official word... however, I could really see it being changed considering how much support the idea has gotten.  I personally think it would greatly add to the game, as well as offering a unique aspect to the primarysecondary class system seen in other games.

I think allowing players to choose the same class twice is a terrible idea.

Just think about it. Who would you rather tank for your group? A Warrior/Gearknight, or a Warrior/Warrior? If there was any actual worth to choosing the same class twice, the Warrior/Warrior would be the superior choice. It'd just make any dual classes feel gimped.

For example, if a Warrior gains, say, +5 Str, +5 Sta, +3 Agi, +1 Int at every level up, and a Gearknight recieves +4 Str, +5 Sta, +2 Agi, +3 Int at every level up, then it'd look something like this...

    Warrior/Gearknight. +9 Str, +10 Sta, +5 Agi, +4 Int
    Warrior/Warrior. +10 Str, +10 Sta, +6 Agi, +2 Int

If he's spending all his time in the front lines hacking and slashing and tanking, then those extra points of Str and Agi will be of more use than the Int.

I guess I can put it like this. I don't want to be half Archer and half Wizard; I want to be full Archer and full Wizard.

Besides, you can apparently just spend all your Hero Points on skills from one class.
