ArcheAge: RNG Addressed in Community Post

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The ArcheAge forum has a new post by community manager "Celestrata" that indicates that the team is actively working to reduce RNG and to increase the drop rates for Archeum. RNG will never leave the game as it is an integral part of what ArcheAge is, according to Celestrata.

Going forward, we want to continue to either remove or mitigate high failure mechanics by adding linear progression systems -- I.E.: There should always be another way to get something. An example of this is the Glider Upgrade system, where you can either buy the item to remove a wingclip or you can just craft it in game. That includes future improvements to regrading, gemming, and others. But, the team here at Trion most certainly agrees with the sentiment of reducing RNG.

In addition, the letter reveals that more effort is being made with regard to bots and hacking. In the past two weeks, bot banning has increased 300%.

Read more on the ArcheAge forum.

You do realize that bots are designed to circumvent the automatic bot detection right? If they didn't there would be no bots.

Korean games = The American Publisher says something that made total sense months and months ago.

This games population is dwindling because of the sheer dominance of credit card swipers, and obsessive compulisve folks who can mitigate the RNG with things that shouldn't really matter in game that has competitive aspects to it.

    Whatevs.

"RNG will never leave the game as it is an integral part of what ArcheAge is"

    That is a shame.

    BTW, What happened to Scapes?

I don't know about the veracity of this bot banning activity. Sounds like more empty words and no action.

Even with video evidence and acknowledgement from Trion, the discovered player continues on.

    Better late than never.

Besides, they've probably gotten most of the money that they were going to get for it by now. Keeping it only serves to scare off newbies now.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

At least if the game was Pay 2 Play they would be making money off the bots.

Scapes rolled to see if he was working there any longer one day and he rolled a 0 so he doesn't work there. RNG is RNG.

The thing that gets me is they are keepign their terrible loot system. What is it with kids these days hyping games in which you pay real money to get the loot rather than oh I don't know actually PLAYING?

Aion has some of the best sound I've ever heard in a game.  Some of it is like soooo 70's heavy synth stuff I LOVE IT ha.

RNG is too integral to the monetisation of the crafting, particularly for the items you can buy to influence it, so, no surprise they consider RNG critical to the game, its all about money after all image

That's because at one time and state it was a legit contender for that title, pre 1.2. When it was a subscription based game. The game is no longer what it once was. With 1.2 and the f2p monetization, they murdered a now mythical legend.

Most heartbreaking, biggest bait and switch, biggest disappointment I've ever had in gaming. It was a bait and switch because Trion knew it was coming and still lied to us as they took $149.99 and sold us the promised to be "North Americanized version". They quit even bothering to tell that lie once they got $150m.

Not sure where you are getting your information from, all Trion have done is translate it, everything else was already a part of the game, and already present in the other 2 versions of the game, so it should not have been any kind of a surprise what type of game it ultimately was, which Trion probably has no control over as they don't own it, or are you suggesting that the version of ArcheAge that Trion is hosting, is somehow different to both the Russian and Asian versions? because other than language, i don't think they are.image

    Fixed for you.

AA is only P2W if you are impatient or are obsessed with that your neighbor has. After all, you gotta keep up with those Jones's!

I get my experience from being there and experiencing it. I'm telling you as an absolute fact that Trion sold us a "North Americanized" version. Trion stated, Scott Hartsman, Scapes, etc. My bank agreed with my well published facts as well.

It doesn't matter anymore if it was XLGames or Trion who chose for a P2W cash shop instead of a subscription for the American version. The fact remains, AA was a WoW contender and now it's a has been golden turd and an absolute waste of a beautiful game.

Subscription is dead. There is only WoW and FF14 and that is it. Get over it. This model is never making a comeback.

As for Archeage, its a good game, the cash shop is better than it was in Korea, the labor is better than it was in Korea, the game is not P2W its pay to go faster.

This is not a western game and it will never be. Trion is only translating and publishing. The game is made and designed in Korea by XL games. You want a game with western sensibilities than play a western game.

It really was a WoW contender too. The AA that exists in a world without monetary limitations is an amazing game.

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

I still stand by the fact that ArcheAge was 1000x better during Founder's Alpha.

This game should have been pay to play.

    What a freaking waste.

+1 though I have just installed it to give it a new try and see how bad it is a year after it's (Western) release...
