Aside from the much welcomed Mirror’s Edge demo, the rest of EA’s presentation left me with more questions than answers. I was worried that EA would show up with nothing more than a pair of trailers for the double whammy of Star Wars games releasing this year and my feelings turned out to be mostly justified.

I love the fact that they are keeping Bots in battlefront, since the older Battlefronts all had bots, and games such as Battlefield Vietnam all had bots, which helps to make the battles feel like real army clashes and very successful, I see this as nothing but a good sign. One of my biggest pet peeves about current day Battlefield games is that they have no Bots, which on big maps leads you to wandering around hoping to find someone and then when you do the fighting is over in about 2 seconds, bots keep the battles alive.
Being able to take control of a main character has been kind of a big thing with Battlefront since number 2, some people love it, some people hate it, but I do not mind that they kept it in.
Mess with the best, Die like the rest
" When comparing the player character in the trailer to everyone else it’s easy to see how dated he looks."
I agree, especially after seeing the previous trailer with the twins. This new trailer just reminds everyone how cartoony swtor's models look.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
Is just that the old character Models now looks outdated compared with the new ones, even Lana and the new companions. At some point i guess BW gonna need to do an upgrate.
To do that they would have to get a new game engine, what they have at the moment is probably pushing it to the limit as is. Would be nice to see an improvement in the graphics though
gotta disagree here- if you want only pvp play in space , you already have evenonline. fighting bots its fine by me.
my opnly gripe is i wish bio would bring more ship missions to SWTOR- ive heard they have stopped doin them and ive actually have just fallen in love with them.
but i do agree with you about the graphics for the game pc they need to bump it up!
and well since iam not a religious sw fanboi- im ok with bio bringing a new 'class' hero like the outlander and its interest to all the current characters in the game. iam ok with that, but i can see how many would dissagree, for me it would feel as if they suddenly turned mad max into a woman hero.
ill be playing it at least for the story- as bio has intended this expansion to be.
I also disagree, both trailers made me more excited. I didn't expect a flight sim for Battlefront and I love having bots. In my mind you are the ace pilots and the bots are the regulars.
For SWTOR..yes...graphics are old...heck they werent even that nice when released...but its the story I am excited for. As as far as the jedi knight goes...if you are playing a true LS knight then no you arent going to accept the offer...but if you arent...then hmmm...maybe...or maybe you'll just kill him and be the new leader lol.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
The Battlefront game was shown at E3 too, had a lot of flaws, particularly for the flying, which just about every Youtube Reviewer/Critic had issues with, maybe they have fixed it a bit, but, things did not sound good at all, and i haven't seen anything yet that would imply they have improved either.
EA Marketing would probably argue that the cutscene is taken from the actual game, therefore it qualifies as game play footage, because it's something that you will experience while playing the game !
I am more a BattleFIELD fan then a BattleFRONT fan. However, I will be purchasing Battlefront anyway. I would have like a more "Battlefield in Star Wars" approach to Battlefront but alas that is not what we are getting. Essentially, Battlefront is going to be just an upgrade of Battlefront 2....not a bad thing but not a major improvement. As to the Fighter Squadron portion of the game, I am somewhat excited to see how it works. Even with Bots, I have no problem with it. At least the ship on ship battles will be better then those in SWTOR.
In regards to SWTOR, I have not had much interest in the game since it went f2p. And while the story aspects of SWTOR expansion always intrigue and interest me, it has not been enough to bring me back to the game.
Let's party like it is 1863!
Gameplay is king, and the gameplay in Battlefront just doesn't look like I'll enjoy it.
To be fair, I've never been much of an FPS fan, but the basic point and click shooters just bore me very quickly. I expect more from modern shooters. I'm glad they've added ship battles and I'm glad they've got bots (if I ever did play the game, I'd only play it offline) but I don't think that's enough to make me buy a game from EA again.
Agree. And the new game engine would have to be Frostbite - EA having taken a company wide decision some years ago to fund and progressively improve a single engine. Basically they recognised that it was to develop a new engine for every game - and it added to production lead times. So the Dragonage team added 4 legged beasties to the engine; the Need for Speed team the ability to have fast moving vehicles - no idea whether the EA Golf team added to it when they moved over to it. Last interview I read it was now used in multiple studios worldwide by over 2,000 EA employees.
So expect nothing to happen to the SWTOR engine and you won't be disappointed; if it does get a tweak you can be surprised.
Pet theory: they might consider some sort of "cross" between SW BF - which has artwork, vehicles, character models already done and DQ - which has character generation, rpg stuff - and some new developments to add additional mmo features to Frostbite?
Fighter Squadron is not a singleplayer mode, though. It's multiplayer. And if it's multiplayer, I want to fight players. I'm all for singleplayer bot modes for players who are into that, but if it's multiplayer, it should be fully multiplayer. Titanfall tried mixing bots into the competitive experience and we all know how that worked out.
Gamescom is August 5-9. It opened today for the public. Day 1 was yesterday.
I have no issues with the bots.
That said, without galactic conquest or some way of integrating both the flying and ground game together, I don't see how this will ever feel like Battlefront.
As for SW:TOR, every player being called one thing is indeed pretty iffy. It's obvious that they're doing it to make the rest of the story from now on equal for all classes. But they still should put in the time to add "Jedi / Sith / My Lord / whatever" into the dialogues.

The original Battlefront had bots and a slight form of aiming assist. I don't get the disappointment as it seems to be staying very close to the original formula like the originals, a game that can be played without the need to be online or with other players, I thought as gamers this is the direction we wanted to go in.
The more I see Battlefront the more i'm convinced they are actually trying this time and it looks like it may very well become a cult classic like the originals. Quit trying to modernize and change classic gameplay, give the fans what they want and expect and just fighting against players would be against the grain of this series.
I'm only disappointed in the fact that there's just a trailer for SWTOR. I was hoping for more details at this point. The battlefront series never really tickled me much. Being an expendable nameless drone might be the reason, even though being "the One" is played out for me at this point.
I'm hoping Mad Max is gonna be as awesome as it looks. With that and Fallout 4 coming, I might cease to exist in the real world this winter...
I take it you haven't been following swtor then by your comment.
Id say there is a lot of excitement for xpac that comes out for swtor in October. My opinion based on your comment you really don't have any idea what is coming for swtor or how well swtor is currently doing.
Bots are fine so long that you can disable them but score against bots and other players should be 2 very different numbers.
It is kinda like when the yanks decided that shooting down an observation balloon was counted as a victory for a fighter pilot in WW1, outragous (ok, that was worse since it was IRL but still, this is bad).
Some setups having bots just add to the diversity of the game but all having them is bad.

SWTOR was a huge step backwards in MMO design. Games released five years prior to SWTOR allowed players to use dozens of sliders to create a body type they liked. SWTOR still uses a single slider to choose between huge lardass, Peter Dinklage on steroids, almost normal and Arnold Schwarzenegger dipped in a vat of meat.
SWTOR looked a decade older than it was on the day it released.
Hopefully Disney will recognize that they could make far more money from the IP if licensed to a company that isn't phoning it in like EA. SWTOR remains so unlike a full MMO that they really aren't taking advantage of anything other than the WoW refugee market.
The hubris they are showing with episodes like this is a good sign.
