Considering this game-beta testers, any good?

There has been a lot of discussion about this game recently and this very question has been asked. While I could regurgitate the same stuff I've posted already, it might be better if you view some of the discussions already present. There are a lot of opinions being tossed around by those that like it and those that don't.

As a general rule, if you want to solo, it's not the game for you.

If you want open areas and lots of exploration, it's not for you.

If you want PvP, it's not for you.

Conversely, if you want groups, dungeons, and don't care about pvp, it may be for you.

    so...

I'd add if you need to rely on PUGs then it may not for you either, even if you are a group player in other games. If you like to group and *can play with the same people regularly* then it may be for you. It's stated that the aim of DDO is to replicate, in an online context, a group of friends getting together to play PnP D&D. Take that statement literally.

That is a pretty good summary.    If you have played D&D before and are familiar with the rules, it will help alot.    One good thing about the retail vs the Beta is that the people playing will be there because they really like the game, not because they are checking it out for the most part.   I think alot of the early adopters to this game know what they are getting into.     So for someone new I would expect it would be easier to get into a quality group of players and have a good time.   As with any game, a good group makes all the difference in the world on your experience.   DDO should have a very good community and that is one major plus it has in its favor.

But his checklist is pretty right on, if any of those points are important to you, this game may not be your cup of tea.

Just want say the whole premise of the game discussion is way off basis. This is whole new game and for person who played these games for 9 years and played the real d&d game I got say this game is awesome and about time non carbon copy is finally out. With repeatable narrative dungeons to explore, traps, 3d environment, and treasure for all this game for me. No it not the stander classic mmorp, pvp, or endless hack and slash but I don’t care this real role-playing addictive to the end. So please you nay sayers out there who have no clue what real rpg is please go play something else.
