Stealth is far too big for my little piece of internet real estate so I will have to cover it in a couple of articles. In this first piece I want to talk about the Archer and the Soul Walker. Both classes interest me but as an alt-a-holic almost all classes do in some way or another so that might not be saying a lot. Among my alts the archers, stealthers and jack-of-all classes tend to log a few more hours that the rest so the recent update from CSE about stealth was a big one.

    Coming from DAOC's stealth, I expected nothing less than an awesome idea. I hope it plays just as awesome in practice.

    Scout, with his invisibility, telekinesis and walking through walls, looks like the ultimate troll class. Folks on forums already describe his victims as "Swayzed" =)

    LOL, should be a lot of fun right? And the classes that I'm designed around those mechanics are looking good, at least right now. :)

    Me too. If it's not awesome and we have to pull it, at least people who donate during this Stretch Goal can get their money back, even post launch. Haven't seen any Kickstarter game make that promise. So, a reasonably unique approach to stealth with a very unique promise. A good jumping off point.

    FFXI is the only game that imo did it properly and reason is simple ,PVP was a non factor. All these games are doing is trying to balance everything around pvp and that ruins everyone of these games. FFXI did it because some mobs were susceptible to vision only while other relied on sound or scent or magic.That is the difference,it is called putting DEPTH into your game.Also not everyone got it but COULD attain it via potions or if a mage cast the invisible spell on you.To me it was done while always making some kind of sense. Every class should not have stealth,it ruins the idea behind having classes,like i said the ONLY reason is to balance pvp. There are many other reason but this is just one of them that reminds me why i don't want ANY pvp in my rpg's.Also MOST devs like to focus too much on pvp because it is a simple thing to put in games,PVE content takes way more effort and cost .However i am not looking for cheap game designs,i after great game designs. I should also add that if my some miracle pvp was done really well,i would not be happy with 3 realms nor ANY kind of system that allows zerging or high level ganking noobs. The one thing Mark got right is NOT having full loot pvp as he realizes the focus SHOULD be about FUN first not looting pvp.

    Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    Just a note, since I totally am seeing this bug now: we're working on what happens when you don't have a signature and the buttons cover up the end of your comment. Simple spacing issue, and will be fixed soon-ish. :) Sorry for those it affects!

    Being able to Soul Walk as an infiltrator ONLY when you have someone to group with you(to hold a lantern) !!! I hope I'm misunderstanding this stealth mechanic for the Infil.

    This game is disgusting. How dare they allow peepers in this game. I mean, I could be cleaning myself off after a hard day of battle, and there's some Soul Walker watching me do this.

    I believe the use of the lantern is to extend the range of your infiltration. You can only go so far just out of body, but the lantern allows you to go further. Should be some kind of downside if the lantern was destroyed. Further you are from your body, you get backlash damage and potentially kill you as you're forced back in your body from a long distance. Out of body experience! I believe we've seen this from comics like Doctor Strange and D&D.

    LOL Night, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe you and a friend are at your house after a long battle, You've closed the windows and are um, roleplaying...when a soulwalker happpens to drift in...oh dear...

    Aye its well annoying - Thanks for looking at it... Another thing.. After clicking quote in your post, I had to manually scroll to the very bottom of the thread rather than be taken there so I could respond.

    When we do have a sig needs looking at still... Look at mine for an example..

    Veil Walkers are also supposed to have great utility for large scale RvR like sabotaging enemy constructs/siege weapons and sort of laser targeting (without the laser) to allow ranged attacks to hit better. Of course you have the Veil Stalkers who are more the traditional stealth class. The veil is more easily traversed when large amounts of players and magic is going off so they become even more effective than solo stealth hunting (for both). Stalkers will attempt to find Walkers and kill them but also will be strong against casters although not front load dps. Stalkers are said to be medium to tough durability and low to mid damage.
