I don't remember much about the Albion Online booths exterior. I can't. It's all drowned out in a shared memory with the team from Sandbox Interactive GmbH. Someone is playing a trailer of some description. We're trying to talk about a medieval sandbox MMO. All we can hear is someone insisting voiciferously that we should "Come to mama!"

This past test was a good time. There are still some changes to be made and they are adding a bunch of new features as well, for instance the possibility of players having their own NPC's to help them do things. All in all, if you like territory control, open world pvp and player run economies, this is the go to game in the upcoming months.

Interesting how it's billed as a modern day UO, yet it didn't learn from UO that open world PvP doesn't work in this style of game. Might check it out once they learn that lesson, otherwise I'll pass.

I think so, eventually.  For the moment, they're offering founders packs for perks and Closed Beta access.

I'm assuming you haven't actually played it, so I don;t see how you could draw that conclusion.

Played: E&B, SWG, Eve, WoW, COH, WAR, POTBS, AOC, LOTRO, AUTO.A, AO, FE, TR, WWII, MWO, TSW, SWTOR, GW2, NWO, WoP, RUST, LIF, SOA, MORTAL, DFUW, AA, TF, PFO, ALBO, and many many others....

I have actually never seen a game that was truly P2W when people (usually having never played the game) make that accusation.

If you've never seen a P2W game I would point you to PWI.  While everything was technically achievable with play the upgrade system was designed so that PvP was dominated by people who spent thousands of dollars in the cash shop and those people were in turn dominated by people who spent over ten thousand dollars in the cash shop.

The problem is there are a few spoiled brats who want everything for free and no one to get anything at all for supporting the game other than cosmetics and scream P2W at the smallest thing.

As for Albion I believe alpha has ended and closed beta is still some months away so this is an oddly timed article.

I have not played many PWI games, I think STO became one of their's, but I stopped playing STO some time before that and only briefly afterwards.

As some say that P2W is an unfair advantage, I have found it more prevalent that being able to play 5+ hours a day is an even greater advantage, especially with games that have an XP system based on grinding in game tasks.  I actually played with a friend (retiree) that logged in 16 hours per day / 7 days a week, in almost every MMO he played and usually hit max level in the first week.

I wont pay a game to play the alpha and beta. Also i wont play a game that those who spent money will have advantage over those who dont. That's why I prefer games that you buy and play or those with monthly payment where you have full access to the game stuff.

    Go to hell!

I bought into the beta and played about 8 hours and found it to be one of the most boring games I've played in a long long time. I was shocked at how interested gameplay videos made it look, but actually playing it was incredibly boring and slow.

Played it and she nailed it.  I spent 6 years in Felucca so not a faint heart when it comes to pvp, but this game lacks what even UO had.

Might get better, I will watch it, but it does not appear that the devs have a good clue what they are doing.

i was one of the first few to be in the first 2 aplhas test last year, and all i can say is that, this game will be only dominated by a couple of large alliance like Vendetta and that guild led by a guy named immortal and LOD, kinda forgot the rest, with the rest of the smaller guilds barely just surviving on their own living peacefully away from the high tier contested areas. ooh also that famous Polish Guild called Scoia Tael, they are awesome

    So What Now?
