Lets get a petition going to get MMORPG.com to change forums to vBulletin.

Yeah it's a little pricy ($160), but it's worth it. The forums will run much smoother and MMORPG.com staff will have more traffic coming to the forums because they won't be:


  • Laggy
  • Bugged to hell
  • It'll speed up the site
  • More Easily Managed
  • Did I mention it won't be so g'd' laggy?


It's great they wrote their forums theirselves and I'm sure there is a way to incorporate vBulletin where it won't change the placing and style of the forums since it's probably the most powerful on out right now.

You guys will save yourself alot of headaches and time if you guys just switch to this. Not to mention more traffic which means more sponsors. ::::28::

Edit: I'm not with vBulletin, I'm just sick of making thread and them not posting. I write some long ass threads that take 20min sometimes that disapear into nothingness. It's really frustrating. (Plus the lag sucks too)

    yea these forums are a bit shite, i HATE the way when you go to post a new message you have to login, then once u log in u would think it should just redirect you to the post new message page, but nooooooo, you have to wait for the fecking page to load THEN click post message AGAIN! ITS INFURIATING!

    also, is there any way to get the fecking site to remember ur username and pword? i get so sick of logging in all the time :S

    but other than that i dont really have any quarms about the forums

    this forum kills my firefox.... ONE page here needs more CPU power than 50 other pages open. often my PC nearly freezes.... not on every page here -- I dont know why... but with some, my system slows down incredibly....

    and I can sign all the otner complaints

    I seriously have no problems with lag on these forums, might be because I'm on 10Mbit connection but still... I like them the way they are.

    10mb connection has nothing to do w/ it.

    I have a 1.7mb connection and dl at 350kbps and if they are lagging because of my problems, then they have a serious problem somewhere.

    Well the forums and the rest of the site are connected so I doubt it will change. You have to be logged in to make a comment or enter a contest and go to forums.

    Things that have been asked for many times here.

    1. Good search, with at least a couple of options.

    2. Way to keep track of posts you made, see in what topics you made them. <- VERY important.

    3. Good or at least semi good mail system, up it to 5 megs give us a filter option and ability to make folders and move mails about.

    Been requested as´long as I have been here and I doubt we will ever see them.

    I would say this forum system is soo 90's but that would not be fair to the 90's.

    theres an autologin feature that you can enable in your account settings.

    i HAD problems with these forums, but eventually the staff fixes all the bugs, you just have to give them time

    plus the forums are unique, if we had vbulitin or whatever its called we'd just be like everyone else thats just too damn lazy to make their own forums or other reasons like that.

    and why the hell do you want to change everything on this site so damn much, first down with huge sigs now changing the forums completely

    i like these forums better then those vbultetin forums anyway, they just piss me off for some reason, i cant quit put my finger on it but i cant stand them.

    I voted yes, because honest to god I hate the way these forums run. I'm constantly trying to login, and when I do login and write something, more often that not something goes wrong! Messages not being posted, the page being randomly sent to a sticky, edits taking fecking ages...it's so damn annoying.

    No longer visiting MMORPG.com.

    The staff are extremely parsimonious when it comes to fixing what is broken. Believe it or not, people have been asking them to fix the boards for about 2 years now. Don't even try to convince them to change the template because it ain't happening.

    I agree here. And the great thing with vBulleton is the advanced functions. They could easily make the forums look just the same as you see here no problem.

    But the truth is we have been complaining about the lag, and buggy forums for 2 years and nothing has changed. Personaly I think they feel they have found a look and system that works and they dont want to put more work into it.
    Now they just do the occasional interview and sit back and take in the cash they get from the adds and due to this site has the largest community for mmorpgs companies contact them now....

    A new site that just recently came up and has a lot of sweet features:

    The news is there quickly, sometimes faster than here. LOTS of features too! There is a download section, hotcode, they have sites in there network for certain MMOs like Vanguard just like a fansite with guides, etc.
    Also, they have a shop where you can get time cards for MMOs by posting in the forums or paying $1 for 10 Gold. Great site, pretty new, community is just growing.

    The forum is great. Your internet connection or your computer must have some serious problems because i've never seen lag and bugs in this forum so, my voye is NOOOOOO!

    I just thought I'd stop in and say a few words here. First of all, your complaints and issues haven't been falling on deaf ears. We care very much about our users and the kinds of experiences that you have when you visit our site.

    We are currently in the process of fixing up a number of these issues for you, including lag and posting issues. We're on it.

    As for the look... stay tuned.

    Thanks to community members like yourselves, MMORPG.com is growing on a daily basis and now supports more people on a daily basis than ever before (check out the folks online on the main page). We're thrilled with the increased traffic and excited about our growing community. Naturally, this growth has required us to make some changes and as the site continues to grow and expand, more and more exciting things are going to be happening around here.

    You can't just put in a new message board system and everythings perfect. It would be rather hard to intigrate vBulliten or any other premade system into the current site. Your user name is used for ranking games, sending messages, chat, everything on this site. vBulliten more than likely would not be compatible, we would probably lose all of the posts, plus it doesn't fit well with the layout.

    MMORPG.com needs to get their programmer back and fix up the current forum is all.
