Kind of cruisen through the software section and I saw a SWG starter kit.
I noticed on the front it says "Join thousands of others in the Star Wars Universe".
This got me to thinking about truth in advertising. Going by the numbers supposedly hacked from the servers on a Friday night, shouldn't the box read "Join hundreds of others"? Or "Join 10's of others"??
Just thinking about SOE, wouldn't want them to get in trouble for false advertising.

Heh. Well, with their track record of honesty, they could have easily said 100's of thousands or millions if they wanted, as well.

"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly.
It should be thrown with great force"
LOL
Doesn't it also say somewhere it is "fun"?

The lead post here is funny but also very true.
It shouldn't be advertised as "thousands" anymore. Actually, the only number thats that high is the thousands that have quit in disqust.
Dude, the vast majority of servers, if not all, had UNDER 1000 players. So if a newcomer makes an account and joins a galaxy, he will be playing with a couple hundred people. You don't play with all of the people at once, that's why they have shards... So yes, at the moment, the box has FALSE ADVERTISING on it.
You know Obraik, you seem to be a pretty inteligent fellow, I really can't understand what makes you stand up for those ***holes all the time... are they paying you or you just like to play devil's advocate ?
Edit: double post
he fanboi dont mind him

If you want to be retentive and precise...the box says "Join 1000s of other players in the Star Wars Universe". Nowhere does it say "Join 1000s of players on a single server". No false advertising at all. It's called semantics. As long as there are 1000s of active accounts they wouldn't be held in for false advertising in any court I know of.
"What is it I have against Microsoft, you ask? Well, you know how you feel when you wait for an MMO to come out and when it does you feel like you've paid to play it's beta test for another 6-9 months before anything even thinks of working the way it should? Being a network engineer you feel that way about anything Microsoft puts out."
soe got like 1000s of court cases from all the players that left and got toow before soe lied 2 us and gave us nge.
The box I bought (back in 10/04) said "join hundreds of thousands of fellow star wars players".
Now only the most optimistic estimate is 40-50,000 paying subscribers at most.
Sad that I joined a game that was basically at it's peak (late pre-CU) and have had to watch the most brain dead management team around beat it to death.
