YouTube is ready to take on Twitch.tv head-to-head with today's launch of its gaming-specific feature. The mega site will put gaming videos, channels, streams and more at a user's fingertips.

    Its awful the way its laid out right now. Feels like they are nowhere near Twitch yet

    Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.

    It's nice to see that livestreams on YouTube are overall better presented than they were on "basic YouTube" though. I'll be back to streaming after PAX probably, and ReStream should make this nice and easy. Problem still being: I don't want to manage two chats.

    Seems like YT is already mostly for gaming anyway...lord knows the folks whose content takes time to create aren't earning much.

    Just tried out Restream again for that very reason. They try to aggregate the chats, but YT's doesn't seem to want to play ball.

    how did you step it up for the new youtube streaming? trying to get it to work the channel url is giving me problems. can't add the beta

    I just use Restream and OBS, like I always have. Going to be testing it out after PAX, but it seems that little has changed on the YT back-end.

    Should really be comparing this to Hitbox since it's been better than Twitch for a while now. It's just unfortunate the viewer base as well as the streamers didn't switch and probably won't switch. Either way, more competition is good for us.

    I don't like seeing a section on "today's top performers" like i care to see Pewdeepie everyday on that list,he is imo a crap gamer and a crap streamer so why do i need to see him everyday.

    However as for quality i expect it to always be better than Twitch which imo has lousy quality.

    I know You Tube has to start somewhere but nobody is going to switch over just yet,likely not for many years.

    Bottom line is these services are no longer about the FUN of gaming or broadcasting it is all a business all about making money now a days which is sad.Every Twitch streamer already has a You Tube setup so ya i don't see them leaving Twitch to do the same thing and run two You Tube entities.Actually now that i think about it,there might be a way to run both Twitch and You Tube at the same time,if no then You Tube just jumped onto a money making bandwagon.

    It is sad because i watch Twitch a lot while just relaxing and i see streamers having a lot of FUN until they get that sub button,then they slowly become too serious about making money.Then the next stage i see them forcing themselves to play and often times becoming salty/angry  as if to say they are not happy,money is truly the root of all evil.

    Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
