It’s been a few weeks since the CU stealth stretch goal update which equates to roughly 4 million e-years. Fortunately I’m always a little behind in life. I FINALLY got to read about how one of my favorite MMO classes might work in CU! The one shotting, stealth popping, ganking shanking wonder that is the assassin stealther! Wooo!

Of the new games we are waiting for this is the first and only that doesn't have two things that are game breakers for me: 1) corpse looting (after pvp) and 2) I just forgot 2) as I was typing this out lol. I'll come back and edit it lol. EDIT: Oh yea! Locked classes (aka gender locks.)

Since the beginning of this game it always had such sick artworks. the artstyle is so good. i really hope that they capture the feel ingame too. i hope for these kind of capes which are moving to the wind etc.

Heh. Ya this game is surely delayed to what amounts to about a year. I still think it will sneak out by end of 2016 at the latest.

    You stay sassy!

and they aren't using daoc type stealthers (i.e. infiltrators, nightblades, hunters, scouts) because???????? they were incredibly successful and well done in DAOC's early years. why move away from this to cater to the mainstream and make us trickster/skirmishers? this is why witchhunters were crap in warhammer and why "stealth" are so lame nowadays. just take it back to old school daoc. whats so hard about that? why try to get all new age reinvent the wheel about it? oh because you dont want to make nonstealthers upset.

IMPORTANT:  Please keep all replies to my posts about GAMING.  Please no negative or backhanded comments directed at me personally.  If you are going to post a reply that includes how you feel about me, please don't bother replying & just ignore my post instead.  I'm on this forum to talk about GAMING.  Thank you.

On paper, CU's version sounds a lot more entertaining and complex. DAoC's stealth wars were fun but it was rather limited. Camp a choke point and wait...

Very good write-up. You are making a good case to play a non-op stealther where the player has to more carefully balance the pros and cons for each action as they play the game. Sort of a thinking man's stealther. All of it sounds great. Lets hope this will all come to fruition.

Would rather see invisibility stealth completely removed, but this is a pretty good compromise I think. Most important thing is that there is no front-loaded burst for me. Definitely not with stealthers, but also not too much of it with other classes. So I'm happy to hear about that grouping and magic field stuff. Burst should always be something that is set up for in a fight, something which you have to earn. That way the opponent can actually guess at what you're trying to do and try to counter. Otherwise PvP simply becomes a race to press the most trinkets and burst macro's.

The actual writeup on CU's site is well worth a read: http://camelotunchained.com/v2/stealth-unchained-our-next-stretch-goal-and-so-much-more-pictures/

It goes into a lot more depth about stealth mechanics in game. Of note is that all classes will have access to a "camouflage" mechanic, archers will be more adept at this than other classes, another class called scouts will have a pretty unique stealth mechanic (looks like they project their minds into the veil), and the veilstalkers/walkers will be able to actually physically travel in/out of the veil as described in the OP.

I mainly want to play a in-your-face character, because Stealth types have a poor reputation for always getting hit with sledgehammer nerfs. With that said, i might play an Archer supporting the group in the background. I'm looking forward to actually test these things, instead of it just being on paper.
