It appears that Saturday's Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns reveal has been leaked by IGN. While the Twitter post has been removed, a trailer is still live and savvy Reddit users have detailed all of the leaked information.     IGN has turned into such a Skritt pile since....oh, a long while ago. They probably got the reveal for the Thief specialization (today) mixed with the PAX reveal in a few days. What a newbish move!

    The info quoted isn't the leak, it's some old datamined stuff that people on Reddit think show how the reveal will work. I'll have to search for a picture of the leak, but it said that GW2 is getting raids and the core game will become free.

    Yeah, I doubt this is all of it. If I get to guess I think they will reveal a launch date for HOT finally, they will do the revelation exactly on the games 3 years birthday, a trial version is hardly that surprising.

    Even with the level and chat limitations I feel the trial is an open invitation for gold selling spam.
    Similar to the goldsellers always spamming near the GTN on SWTOR.

    a trial version is fine, every paid mmo should have a trial version so you can try it before you buy it. But i highly doubt the core game will become free, the game has sold very well since launch and its still doing well.

    It's not surprising. Most people that followed HoT already knew this would likely happen with "challenging group content". IGN should apologize if they have any integrity. They broke trust between developers and themselves. Future devs should be worried about giving them any info in the future.

    The exact wording of that part of the leak is "play the core game for free". I don't know if it's the full existing game, but ever since ANet started discussing Heart of Thorns, "core" in GW2 typically means everything outside the expansion(s). It could be just a trial, but we really don't know. It wouldn't surprise me if the full core game went free, though- the price was at only $10 for a long time, and it hasn't even been available for sale since HoT preorders started.

    I like how everyone assumes that based on a leaked trailer they all of a sudden know all the details of what F2P actually means for Guild Wars 2. Don't give IGN credit for their crap, just wait until Saturday for the actual reveal.

    If the core game is free, wonder if they will limit login rewards to expansion users.. having a couple of accounts it becomes quite an easy gold farm and if we can essentially have unlimited ones... t6 mats is going to go down a lot in price.

    I really hope that it remains BtP... FtP means a lot of changes, many of which I'm pretty sure I'd greatly dislike, and a few may put me off from one of my favorite MMOs. Please let it just be a trial. A trial would, on the other hand, be more than welcome.
