'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

You guys... (snort) all you lifetime subbers.. they flubbed this, they flubbed STO... and the lifetime was the kick in the nuts. Games like this are a good reminder why you should NEVER LIFETIME SUB EVER. Which is a shame because with games like LOTRO, I kick myself for not doing it. Games like this? Not so much.
They can be pretty hit and miss, yeah. I love my lifetime sub for TSW, but I would've regretted it deeply if I'd have gotten the same thing for this game. =/
Then again, maybe I'd be more invested in it and actually give it a decent try if I put that much money in it.

cant believe this is the one that is treading water, but coh is closed down.

PWE are much kinder overlords than NCSoft. If this title had been an NCSoft game it'd would've probably been euthanized by now.
I might hate the company's monetization at times, but I love how devoted they are to their players by not pulling the plug on games that aren't performing spectacularly.

Yep, and it's not even just PWE, first kudos is to Atari, when they went bankrupt they could've cancel it to save a few bucks until finding a buyer to their assets - like Nc'diots would've done without a flinch.
PWE is thinking more into studios I think. CO was fairly neglected in the last few years (beyond the Vehicles update I couldn't recite any bigger change... maybe the crafting, and the Ravenswood intro refresh), but that was because they (PWE) wanted more focus on STO and later with Neverwinter. Yep, based on CoH's fate, in a similar scenario Nc would surely pull the plug on CO, to save a few penny.
Heck, just check RaiderZ, it was a fun game (at least at start, then I left), I'm pretty sure it was far from generating profit, and they only pulled the plug after even the devs disbanded and abandoned the game :awesome: Yep, you can put a mile long list into PWE's Con column, but that's in the Pro side for sure, they don't cancel games on a whim like those Nc f.cks. (AA, still miss you )
We'll let it go just as soon as you quit trying to convince other people to let things go.
No?
Well that settles that I guess.

I might hate some of the things PW does but this is true about them. And it seems the people that really hate on this game are former COH player's that hate that this game is not a copy of COH. They still can't get over COH being shut down. Do yourselves a favor and get over it. I'VE had mmo's shut down that i loved too. People that sub.to CO get to make a really unique character and that's the games strong point. So its nice that that game is being looked at again by PW. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
A couple of years ago, this might have meant something, right now, its more of a curiousity, mostly because its a virtually dead game, so have to wonder why they are spending money on it.

Just to twist the knife still stuck in the backs of former CoH players.
I've got a feevah, and the only prescription... is more cowbell.

Don't think so, PWE won't move a finger if there's no money in it, knife twisting is a tiresome task
Probably it's a pat on Cryptic's head. STO is boldly going into a new Season, Neverwinter is in a good shape too... I guess Onslaught is PWE's way of saying "good boy, sit, here's a biscuit" - as in here's some leftover money, spend it on your other game, the whatsitsname, you know, which we mostly don't care about :awesome:
(btw, it's not (virtually or otherwise) dead, MC is pretty crowded and I never waited in the queue more than 1-2 minutes these last couple weeks since I'm back in. True, I'm a healer, but I don't think it's role related, CO's grouping tech is dumb as a rock... two days ago it put me in an Alert with 3 other healers, and 1 ranged dps a well-balanced team for sure)

Just an addition to that, they just started a vehicle event, it's also pretty crowded - and on the other side, quite frustrating especially the track which takes you inbetween the skyscrapers, I always lost direction / bump into buildings, and thus lose the race...
This may not be the full villain-play expansion some want, but I see it as it is: a testing ground for that sort of thing. They're not going to suddenly sink a few million into a massive Villain expansion right away. They're going to try content like this, see how it performs, and then move forward. I, for one, am just glad there's a new reason to use my lifetime sub coming.
Except for the fact that they have already tested PvP in the game, both in the arena and as monster play. The community asked for CoV in Champions form, not this diluted, recycled PvP play.
I LOVED this game back in the day. It wasnt better than CoH, but it was pretty great! I made some really decent friends playing them too. I really think that if Cryptic and PWE had some sense they would have started working on villain content right away after STO was in the bag, but they just let it flounder.
Still, its good to see SOMETHING going on good for this title.

Cryptic has never been accused of giving the customers what they actually asked for.
