YES I DO! Because.....I'm a Mander-Mander-Manderville man, Doing what only a Manderville can, From the peaks of Coerthas to Thanalan, Mander-Mander-Manderville man!
Hildibrand is the best. I heard more was coming in 3.1, but it's looking like that won't be the case, unless they're keeping it quiet as an added bonus.
These patches are amazing and should be looked at by other companies. FFXIV is doing it right, and that's why it deserves the be thriving as a p2p game. kudos SE
They keep making skin-deep additions to the game to say FFXIV has certain features for advertising purposes. I'm getting kind of sick of it at this point. No, it is NOT an old school MMORPG. It is very firmly a WoW baby and patch 3.1 isn't going to magically change the game over into a completely different kind of game. The housing and PvP were both cooked up as quickly as possible so they could claim they had those features. To this day, the PvP is very limited in scope, and the housing is dysfunctional for economic and other reasons.
Not sure how introducing entirely new game systems and content is "skin deep" or "for advertising purposes"... but... okay. Sure... whatever. I guess cynicism doesn't require logic.
Anyway!
The current event is awesome. The moment you walk up to the event area and hear the music change to the eerie bit of Answers that played during 1.23 up 'til they took the servers down... That got me right off the bat.
The events that followed, though, were just awesome. What a beautifully and cleverly designed event (finding and killing bugs lol).
I've never seen a developer put so much into acknowledging and thanking their players. Even in a virtual setting, the humility and gratitude rings through.
Not to mention those teasers scattered about in the form of random side-dialog... man... lol.
I've yet to see that distant airship up in the HW areas. Now I feel like I should at least try to find it lol.
Old Shool Mmorpgs dont have Quest Hubs if you ask me . I recently went back to play it and had to Complete about 40 Hours or even more Real Life Time Questing of the Main story line just to be able to enter new Zones theres no way you can enter them without doing the Main Story Line and its all go there Talk to that guy go there take 5 of this to npc 456 thgen run back to npc 567 and talk with him then kill miniboss 123 blaaaaa. And in order to stay competitive you need to go to new Zones since thats where all the need tradeskill components n new Gear / Dungeons are. To me such a Main story Line is boring and just a Timesink.
That is where taste comes in, my lovely Kabon. Iam glad they didn't make me skip all that greatly crafted story. Sure, it has quite the fillers, but the story is still one of the best ones i've seen in any mmo, period. I enjoyed the ride doing 2.0 to 2.55 and i still enjoy the ride to 60. I've been playing for about 2 months now, being lvl 53.
Edit: I started at L50 those two months ago.
