This game launched over 5 years ago. I am not exaggerating. Guess we will see if it makes it to year 6 as they hinged a lot to this Steam release.

Edit to add:  At least this time we can track their success    http://steamcharts.com/app/287920

Be VERY careful. This game has been out for a serious amount of time and is not NEW. There are still issues with it that have been persistent for many years and never been fixed. The Devs are always looking towards the new Holy Grail expansion in order to attract new players however they NEVER fix the problems that always come with their last expansion. Sarducca expansion was released months ago now. It was meant to be the largest content drop to date. 95% of the content released is not used and the entire continent of Sarducca is abandoned due to bad development decisions and it never being fixed. In addition to this Star Vault have been accused many times in the past of being less than secure with user information. They have had SEVERAL breaches over the last few years. Including loss of personal details and some players have even had credit card fraud as a result of this. The fact SV is asking for so much personal information with the steam release should be a huge red flag. They also had to recently remove ALL of their player councillors due to years of people abusing the system for their own ends. Corruption amongst Star Vault staff runs HIGH here. Basically if you have enough money and donate enough, you can buy yourself immunity within the game.

In retrospect , from this point of time , it amazes me how much flak we have given to Mortal Online.

Its a small Indie company that managed to do something most failed : release the damn game.

Its literally more than most managed. With 2 million dollars kickstarters, big names ... all failed

And lo and behold these guys did it.

Is it perfect, no its not. Is it full featured playable game. Yes

I say big KUDOS to Starvault

But this game has been out for years, not only that; the game was so bug ridden and months after months the bugs were unresolved; subscribers left in numbers and the game had to go f2p. i think it was about 2 years ago. and now they are launching in steam. i wonder if STEAM players do any research or they just read the buzzwords like : "sandbox" "open world" "old school" and decide to hit it off...

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

Its always amazing to me that games that have "went to die " somehow get resurrected on Steam.

Not sure if this game would be worth a revisit, but man I can assure you that when this game launched I was floored with how poorly it was developed. Be VERY careful if you are thinking of putting any money towards this game; the developers nearly mishandled this product into oblivion several times over now.

I bought the game at release and  have been trying to get my Old account information for two days now but their request username/password stuff is broken I guess, and two days later still no response on my forum post or a PM about help.

One thing that boggles me is they charge for character slots now? I could have sworn everyone used to have 4 character slots.

This game just speaks to me ... it says "don't play me...my creators abandoned me, and you should to."
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

The game has changed ALOT since realease. SV has been ALOT better at fixing issues/bugs etc that appear. They are still a very small team. But what they've done with the game, for being such a small team, is nothing less then remarkable. Ofc there will be a time now after they released the game on steam, that will bumpy. But if you go to their own forum, or read on steam, it seems alot of peeps enjoy it. At least when they can login. But all this will be sorted if you have some patience.

This game has been out for a long time and honestly its a PVP game more than anything and the group in this game do nothing but kill new players.  Sorry this is one of the worst MMOs out there.

There is many peeps playing the game that also protect new players etc. Not all in MO are "reds" that kill everything they see. So don't spread lies. It ain't that bad at all. But it is a full loot PVP game, and peeps trying it should know this from the get go. And if you don't have thick skin and can handle losing them precious pixels, then I rec. heading back to a themepark MMO.

I played UO back in 1998, so I have a lot of Experience with games like MO.  I also played MO and the game is crap.  Its not very welcoming a game for people that do not live in their parents basement.  Sorry but its true.  I was a hardcore PVP player when I was 18 and had no life, now that I am 35 and have a family games like this are useless to me.  O and the Average MMO player is in the same shoes I am so a game like MO were people do go around killing everything they see and setting people back is just a niche game for a few thousand players at best.  Sorry dude this game is bad expect for a few players.  And no I am not spreading a lie.  Played MO for like 2 weeks a few years back and never going get anywhere with all the people killing me ALL the time.  Yea sorry this game is full of people who just like to farm low levels thats it.  At least in UO most people worked together and you had a few PKers but today PKers do nothing but play games like this.

Also There is no difference between this game and going to play UO on Siege Perilous.  Which I would play first if I ever got to the point I could stomach the PKing again.  It was fun running around being a 1x GM and hitting people with a Hally.  But man I could not get back into that un-godly grind again plus having to deal with full PVP looting.

You are describing the new norm in PvP games.  That said, this is pretty much just an NA behavior.  In the east and other parts of the world players are not as PK thirsty as in NA, and specifically in the US.  IN the US it's all just about the PK, 24/7, all day long.  People loving making other people miserable is the new fun in these PvP MMO games.

Two weeks? Wow. Yeah, that's enough time to judge a game and it's playerbase. NOT. I played MO for years. During this time I was in several different guilds. Always in non-PK guilds. And we weren't the only non-PK guilds out there. We and others help new players. Then there are PK-guilds as well. That kill everything on site. Sure. I died alot in the game. But I was still able to progress. I didn't throw in the towel and go crybaby when I lost my shit. Cause I knew what type of game I was playing, and I loved the danger involved with heading out with the fear of losing what I had etc. But the rush to fend of some red etc beats anything I've experienced in a MMO. The only thing I agree with you on, is the time it takes. It's not a game for the casuall gamer. And that's why I had to quit playing it. I just don't have the time that the game requires from me. But for those that are looking to sink into a sandbox MMO, and that have the time and patience, and don't cry for losing their shit, that sees every setback as a learningprogress etc. They are in for a treat.

Don't bother with the game stop discussing it, MO has been full of spaniards abusing glitches and in bed with GM's for years now nobody will stand a chance competitively.

Played a while back. Came back yesterday to try the steam release. Honestly there's not much good I can say. I felt no immersion :( its so unpolished. From the description of this game you feel so happy, finally a hardcopy sandbox! Then you play for a week and you know theres no way you could pay for such a shoddy product.

    My search continues.

Nothing to see here, MO was garbage the day it was released, has been garbage for the 5 years it has been running, and it is garbage today.

The game is just plain bad, in just about any way a game can be bad.

Except for a few hardcore fanbois, and every game has those, this game is dead, and rightfully so.

MO got greenlit 2 years ago, and they've only now gotten the game into a playable enough state for Valve to allow them on the store page? Considering the kind of QUALITY products that have made it onto steam in the past few years, just how bad of a state was MO in before?!

Before the steam release, the most subscriptions they have ever possibly had was 3000 and that is a fact coming from their financial statements.  Given the game has been out for years, is free to try and has been mentioned on every gaming website, I dont think using the word "alot" is correct when describing the amount of people who enjoy this game.

I expect to see a profit for the first time on this quarters financial statements and then after that it will go back to consistent losses again.  Steam is their last shot and they have banked everything on it.  47% of the reviews on steam are currently negative and that is with the large hardcore fans of the game running over there and posting positive reviews on day one trying to build the game up.

I am all for supporting indie developers but not when they lie, cheat and scam to get subscriptions.  I have also never seen a game with such a corrupt GM staff.  There is no way steam can save this game.  It will give them an initial profitable quarter but I doubt they will milk more than one profitable quarter out of it.

Played MO on and off since the beginning. It's just a sad realization that it could of been a much better game than what it is if it wasn't for the mismanagement.
