It's corps like Goonswarm which are responsible for most newbies leaving EVE in the first place. They'll probably wind up podding every newbie in the middle of null sec before kicking them out, laughing all the while as said newbies try to get back to high-sec space. Goons are scum. Always have been, always will be. They're the EVE equivalent of people who crap in the urinal of a public restroom for kicks, because they know some poor kid is going to have to clean it up.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

I Love the way space is shown in EVE online, I managed to play way back in time when the game was still decently played. I explored a lot, it was beautiful, then the gankers came and the game went towards those who enjoy PVP first and making friends last.

want 7 free days of playing? Try this

I'm an old player of EVE Online, but I would change something for the better. The ability to look for a fight more efficiently. I know there exist faction warfare plexes, but they are not a real experience of PVP. You are not hunting somebody exactly. It's a totally different feeling from wandering 0.0 and bringing a carebear to his knees. If you want to do solo pvp, you will need at least a second account in order to scout, and I know it's a MMO, but it means that just looking for a fight requires at least 2 players whilst in many games you can find a fight much easier. Plust you are already in disadvantage by being alone against a potential gang of several ships by attacking their bait. It's not like if they give you a free scout you will be totally overpowered. Or they could add it as a drone, and the module required to control that scout drone reduces your mining yield or ratting income to 0%.

As someone who has been interested in EVE but intimidated this article did nothing for me. It was written for people who already play, I did not even know what I was reading half the time. If you were writing this for EVE players good job, if you were writing this for potential players.....fail.
Not sure if this'll be any help as I could never really get into eve. But the best advise I can think of in this aspect is to sign up for the trial and watch the rookie help channel and ask question when need. That should give you much better advice than this article and should really help you avoid the griefers as you start out(not sure about later thought:) ) Also what i've noticed from my brief time in eve is that most of those telling you how big and scary it is fall into one of two catagories. 1: Eve is too complicated and I couldn't figure it out. 2: I did something stupid and it's all eve's fault.

Eve should have a free to play option. Free players would be limited to frigates and have a cap of 100 million ISK. You'd get a LOT of players then.

I found Eve to be special in certain aspects. The crafting system of building and using ships. Players themselves have to build ships from materials that they them selves mine, find and create. Best system of any game that I have played. I am usually a solo player but the structure of Eve very much encourages you to play in groups. That I think is what makes MMOS special and that is why the new MMOS seem to fail to distinguish themselves from other games. One can really live in this game. In wormholes for example you have your own small society needed to build and defend your wormhole. Other places too. I am lausy at pvs p however I found plenty to do in wormholes including fighting along my group.

Its a special game. Why did I leave I did not get along with my group and had trouble finding another group. I am lausy at P vs There is a lot of intricate stuff one can do in eve such as scanning. I hope they don't simplify it. It was also great to explore solo the huge area of eve.

I am so disappointed in the new game s where arrows and prepared maps tell you exactly where to go and what to do. I love to explore map and the sense of adventure I had in some old games, Eve definitely has that. Oh I wish I was better at Pvs.P

One thing I found hard to get used to was the lack of avatar to avatar interaction because one simply sits in space ship that really surprised me because I always the those interactions as frivolous.

I highly recommend Eve If it has not changed. Its been 5 years since I played it.

oh I forgot something really important. When you get killed you suffer a real loss which again makes all the interactions much more meaningful. It can also be frustrating for some people.

oh another really good thing is there is no meaningless leveling. Another distinguishing feature.

There are a couple reasons i left EVE. One is the constant scamming and general attitude "i will screw you over if i can in any way". The other is that safe space isnt really safe. You can work along time just running missions and its more profitable for a few guys in stripped ships to blow you up and loot your wreck in high security space. Lastly and not the least is that it has the worst incarnation of the internet no consequences and being anonymous. The toxic community is the worst of any game online. I hope they are happy there and never play another game.
