Here's couple random videos about sieges and scenarios - Tor Anroc (lava bath! - Dwarf Ironbreaker PoW) and the (failed ) siege of Dok Karaz, Barak Varr keep, T2 (Dwarf Engineer PoW)
I played this game for the first 3-4 months it was out and then I quit and didn't go back. If I recall correctly the reason I quit was because the fastest and really only way to level was to play ScenarioHammer. I found myself doing nothing all day but Q'ing up for scenarios on the same 2-3 maps and that got boring real quick.
I never did check back to see if they fixed that and made the open world worth exploring.
Also, I'm not even sure how that "return of reckoning" site exists. Games Workshop is quite literally the Scientologists of the gaming world. They have more lawyers than employees, the most ridiculous and heavy handed rules for retailers I've ever heard of and a spin department that could make lead look like gold.

I had exactly the opposite problem with Scenarios, I enjoyed them too much compared to the "main" game, that is RvR. Never thought of them as of grind (well, there was couple moments...)
Another "problem" is that I spent like 80% of playtime RvRing on both sides in T1,2,3 (T3 was my favorite but as a rule almost always empty, another piece of wonderful but failed design). I guess that's how I avoided the endgame grind burnout, thou I had some maxed out toons which is kinda inevitable when someone plays untill the very shutdown.
So, low tiers and scenarios were more fun (I guess many will agree with me) than T4 RvR, turning it all upside down.
Then go play. 550 people are online right now and they are all spread across T1 and T2. Plenty of fun if you ask me
Man, it was 5 looong years - not that I suffered from burnout (somehow I didn't!?!?! while playing like a maniac) but on the contrary, I'm afraid I might get hooked (again).
I have some RL stuff to do first. Must...resist...WAR...... O.o

Nowadays that would be considered a raging success.
This is a time when WoW was gaining subs and new MMORPGs were considered capable of "killing WoW".
