I do like the idea of a quest so you can learn the language (i'm talking WoW). Make it hard to get, maybe even make it a lvl 60 quest. Least then if there is any trash talk, it's between 2 people of the same lvl, and not a poor lvl 10 ranting off cause a jerk 20 lvls higher is ganking him.
It'd also help in some areas of the game. For example., the recent Gates of Ahn'Qiraj patch was supposed to have Horde and Alliance working together, but that is somewhat restricted if they can't understand each other! So, we just end up farming cloth and metal etc... Would have been interesting to have some quests were Horde and Alliance has to group and genuinely work together.
If it hink of it i dont like to be never able to speak to different Factions. I agree that they should have different languages - even Characters from the same species could speak in another language if they are in different Factions. But it should be possible to learn that language.
In earlier Warcraft games Orcs,Undead,Elves,Humans could communicate cause they knew the "basic" language. While "normal" Warriors/Mages/etc. may not know these basic languages they should be able to learn it.
