The New Order of High Sec has always had a penchant for causing drama. After all, you can't ruthlessly murder thousands of unsuspecting players and not expect to make a few enemies along the way. In more typical MMORPGs, the act of killing another player, especially one who cannot properly defend themselves, is often considered a pretty vile act.

You could look at it from another point of view, that they are essentially a group of cowards that enjoy a lot of smack talking, but they always shy away from any fight that resembles a fair one. Trying to portray them as anything else is an exercise in futility. When challenged to go into a neighboring low sec system to back up their bravado they always run away with their tail between their legs. It really takes little skill to gank in this game, I very much doubt they would have the skills to actually compete in a tournament.

I just have to wonder, is there ever an EVE article written here that is not just a propaganda piece for one corp or another? This one paints griefers and exploiters as victims and at the same time like some kind of true sandbox freedom heroes? FFS

Back in 'the good old days' there were stories made that were truth and not propaganda. But with the recent influx of player sthe last 5? years after the boom so has the amount of trashtalking risen.

The group that the Devs fought in the early game was MOO.... It was a good fight to watch, but they were trying to show that there were issues with the stacking of modules which at the time had no penalty.... The first time the Devs came to the fight they lost their ass....then they came back in indestructible ships....

Hey PanserBjorne, Chronicles of New Eden, by design, is meant to chronicle the various player groups of EVE and tell their stories. It is inherently subjective in that nature as it is a singular account of one event from one perspective. You can think of it akin to something like the "This is EVE" trailer but expanded. So, yeah, propaganda does get mixed in with the lot. There was never any intention to filter it as this isn't a column intended to report on the happenings of New Eden in any way that resembles objectivity. This is all about the people and their stories, whether you think they're garbage or not is up to you!

CODE was the principal reason I stopped playing EVE Online.

So you quit the game because you lost a ship?

Groups like CODE are the reason the game is basically the sewer of the MMO genre, the one place scum can feel at home.

Groups like CODE are the reason, why many people stopped playing the game. There is enough space to pvp in EvE. As long as CCP does nothing to intervene with all kinds of betrayel, scamming, ganking and such, the game remains a place for idiots. This is not the fault of the players, EvE invites them plainly to be assholes, it is the fault of CCP, allowing all that. EvE is Harassing Online by design.

CODE are minor irritants, they only attack miners and shuttles in transit, as long as your not afk or semi afk, then they are pretty easy to deal with, although admittedly, they do harass miners a lot, so when they are around, miners do tend to stay docked up. As for the rest, its not against the rules to attack people in high sec, which is where CODE like to play, usually around Amarr/Jita area, where they try to catch afk pilots in transit. If your not afk travelling, then usually they have little chance of catching you, and even if they do, a shuttle is hardly much of a loss. As for anyone moving valuable freight, if you don't have an escort then your pretty much fair game to anyone, not just CODE.

It's the EvE way. And the EvE way to be a part of Corp. Frendship is all what you need in this game. and if you are a solo player, trying to do anything in game, there IS a chance that some one will gang you. I dont think they go for some one in small ship, doing lvl 1 mish in 1.0 space. but AFK miner in 0,5... well.. dont fly enything i cant replace.

CODE have spread their filth into Elite: Dangerous as well recently...only instead of targeting traders, they hunt Explorers, who they know almost always have no shields and no weapons, and are built to be as light as possible to travel as far as possible. Members of their organization have also been caught out ganking newbies under false flag (trying to ruin the reputation of a group that's known for helping new players), and using hacks like "shields never drop below 10%" to "pvp" against players who arn't cheating. Of course, the CODE leadership always has some beautifully laid out "oh, we would never do that, its against our rules, it can't possibly be us" BS to say about it when they're caught, but they're fast becoming the most hated group in Elite as well, even spawning subgroups that are dedicated to trolling the trolls (taking out the smallest, weakest, cheapest ship in the game in large groups, finding them, and relentlessly interdicting them followed by suicide ramming, just to annoy them).

Last one trying to make hero out of a group that ask for ransom, this one is about group that harass people. Are there any decent human being that play EVE? or all the decent ones are called "whiners" there?

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

Oh, leet pvpers preying exclusively on people not looking for a fight. There are plenty of ways and places where you can dumpster bads in EVE online, you have to be fucking stupid to target new players which CCP wants to keep playing now more than ever and think you're not going to get your shit slapped.

I guess one could argue the idiots are the ones one who do not use plethora of tools available to defend themselves and then cry or rage about the game being made for "assholes" and "filth" of all sorts...

EVE high sec is fairly safe, but safety does not come granted, and like with everything in EVE, you gotta make some effort. That concept is apparently not for everyone.

And as you could read, according to some poeple CCP indeed intervenes and protects "bears" way too much.

my god. The beauty of all these themepark carebear tears in these comments even beats the lackluster story written. Bravo. How amusing it is how so many don't grasp the nature of the sandbox and instead sit in their computer chairs and try to lord some kind of carebear agenda. (If they don't do anything about scamming, ganking, griefing, stealing, high sec ganking, and groups like CODE) Please. EVE Online is a sandbox. A sandbox. A place where players create their own content. It is not CCP Games job to protect you from any of these things. CCP Games have provided the tools for you to protect yourself. There is also 2348623874623874523864527634526734239048029345798345678923478903475398245387265328975638745638456328475632897453246523789450638456287354 videos, guides, and corps that will teach you to avoid the likes of CODE, Avoid scams, Spot ganks, Avoid being a great gank target, and to protect your assets. If you're incapable of figuring out the nature of the game. World of Warcraft would love you have you. Filthy plebes.

I was always taught, don't fly what you're afraid to lose. Is this not the case? High Sec has always had people to worry about. Why is this any different? If you're playing this game AFK, you should be afraid. That's the entire point. Blaming people for using the rules of the game to do whatever is silliness. EvE exists specifically because you can be lied to, stolen from, destroyed, podded, etc. Ugh. Listen, I'm a carebear. I never left High Sec (willingly) and when I did I was guarded the whole time (transiting from one system to another). I dislike PVP but acknowledge that in a game like EvE it will occur regardless of your feelings toward it. I will always prefer PvE and being left alone. That's how I roll. But others get their kicks on other ways to play and that's, also, acceptable. P.S. This new forum thread formatting sucks big monkey *#!&^@s. I put paragraphs in specifically to prevent my thoughts from being one big spiele and to be broken into thought groups, and this stupid forum now puts it into one giant catastrophe that looks terrible.

This is an outright lie. They will gank anyone. You don't have to be afk or 'lackadasically' flying. From their start, anyone was the target, and at least at the beginning they had a huge protection scam running against miners. So yea, is it within the capabilities of the game? Yes. Are they childish cowards? Yes.
  • krulerkruler Member UncommonPosts: 589
CODE Carebear pirates, seriously they did a write up about a group that wont fight anything that can fight back, and only feels comfortable in Hi-sec, I would hang my head in shame for any article dragging my sorry ass in to the spotlight if I was a CODE member.

You make false implication of something he never said and then you accuse him of lying... Priceless.

I get it. It's nice to see you admit freely that there is an element of propaganda in your articles. I just don't understand why these stories can't be told objectively on a site like this. Subjective stuff I expect in Blogs and the like. I guess it's just my expectations are off here. I actually don't have an issue with CODE in the game. I find their antics and rhetoric amusing. There was/is a similar group of players in Star Trek Online and I also found them amusing though many do not. I've been playing the game for almost two months and have never been ganked by anyone inculding CODE. Everytime I've died it was due to a decision I made and I've never flown something I couldn't easily replace so, really losing a ship or getting ganked means little other than the inconvenience of re-shipping.
