At the stroke of midnight on September 29th, the WildStar free to play version will go live along with a special live stream broadcast by Carbine Studios. The team has a slate of activities planned including a Times Square countdown to F2P launch.

Carbine has worked quite hard to make community-based alterations to the game in preparation for this new iteration. It is an event because it's the start of a hopefully long life for WildStar.
I don't think I'll ever understand why it is that some want games to fail. Don't like it? Don't read the news about it or play it. But don't besmirch it or belittle people who are interested.
The MMO genre is enhanced by successful games. I for one hope they hit it out of the park.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Carbine?? The same company that in all their pre-release advertisements billed Wildstar as a "Hardcore" raider only game and then failed to deliver a game even their selected nitch wanted???
Perhaps its not so much we want to see them fail as we don't have your glowing eternal trust in a game company that did so poorly at what they set out to do. Yes, yes its your job to put a positive spin on every MMO and always paint the picture of how wonderful it will be this time around because while they evidently didn't listen to the players wants the first time around they will this time.
Sorry there is a difference sometimes between painting everyone with a negative comment and those that just are a bit more realistic in their view, color me jaded if you will that's fine, sure its free, but my time is not. There are IMO plenty of decent games to play currently I've seen nothing so far showing wildstar is one of them. We can agree to disagree on this.\
As to the response from you that no one should say anything or follow a thread unless they are positive and glowing about a MMO, really your going to go there? If one doesn't read up one will never learn if something has gotten better, if no one ever made a critical statement then Carbine certainly would have any information on where they might improve.
Yes all negative is bad, but then so is the attitude that everything is wonderfull and positive this time because the game developer says they listened to the fan base and change their game, when the first time they seemingly didn't listen. (or perhaps they only listened to a very loud minority the first time?)

In case anyone missed it:
Due to some closed beta tester keys expiring, Carbine has decided to remove the need for a key altogether and has opened the doors wide for anyone who'd like to download and try out WildStar's F2P version before it hits live service next Tuesday.
